Saw the movie today & I have to say I was EXTREMELY let down. They were trying so hard to be 'Gladiator' like in this movie & failed miserably. good acting & all, but it was TOO slow paced. I feel let down beacuse it looked amazing. Guess I just expect more of Ridley Scott
Not nearly enough. I thought it was ok. It wasn't as good as Gladiator, but much better than Troy (not saying much). I heard that a whole hour was cut from the version the director wanted. My friends complained about the boring stuff during the first half of the movie, I and others like to call that character and plot developement. One thing I didn't like is that the battle scene at the climax seemed kind of rushed. I imagine a lot was edited out. I had no problem with Orlando, but when he gave his rousing speech, it didn't evoke the same feelings that you get from watching Russel Crowe, Mel Gibson, or Kenneth Branagh (Henry V). My friends and I did joke afterwards about how you could make this movie by splicing other Orlando Bloom movies together. For instance, he plays a blacksmith like in Pirates and the siege of Jerusalem was similar to the battle of Helm's Deep.
Orlando used to have a cool factor when he was Legolas. Then he lost it all by being a lil bish in Troy.
WTF Troy was one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. Gladiator suck donkey balls. "Myrmidons! My brothers of the sword! I would rather fight beside you than any army of thousands! Let no man forget how menacing we are, we are lions! Do you know what's waiting beyond that beach? Immortality! Take it! It's yours! "
You should have ended your post right after this because you lost all credibility. Troy couldn't carry Gladiator's jock strap. All of these spin offs are because of Gladiator. Unfortunately Ridley Scott thought he could make it twice. I thought he would be smarter than that. You actually may be the first male to ever say that they disliked Gladiator. Please make sure that your balls are still attached.
I went to see it this afternoon. To me it was all right. It's hard to see Orlando Bloom in the "knight" role as the "elf" seems have to stuck in my head. But I think that it was worth the admission.
Ridley Scott has made some quality movies. I love Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, hell I even kinda liked Hannibal. I wished I could sit down one day and watch Bladerunner. Hearing that this movie was average is kinda sad.
LMAO, i actually like troy but you're right it's not even on the same level as gladiator. i'd probably see this movie if orlando bloom wasn't in it. nothing against him personally but in my mind he can't possilby be a lead actor in this type of movie. even if he's not so bad i don't think my mind would be able to get past his pussiness(is that a word?) in troy.
I thought both Troy and Gladiator sucked. I was looking foward to seeing this movie, but was/am prepared for a let down.
That's not actually true. I hear people all the time say that Gladiator was seriously overrated. I don't agree, but it is said a lot. I also thought Troy was ok.
One way it could have been better: Green Slams Scott for Removing Her Sex Scenes Sexy actress Eva Green has slammed director Ridley Scott for removing most of the raunchy sex scene she had with screen hunk Orlando Bloom from new movie Kingdom of Heaven. Green enjoyed playing Bloom's lover Princess Sybilla in the film, but was devastated to discover Scott had deleted "the best bits" because he deemed them too shocking. She says, "It is a pity because we spent so long getting it just right. I didn't know how much had been cut until I went into the studio to record the soundtrack. It was a shock when I found out how much had gone, all of the best bits. But Orlando is sexy and gorgeous. What girl would not want to get naked with him? But he is not a seducer. He is very kind and careful and respects women." http://imdb.com/news/wenn/2005-05-06/#7
