http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7344548?MSNHPHCP>1=10539 "It took Jimmy Kimmel a matter of 10 minutes to do what Dennis Miller needed two years to accomplish — getting the heave-ho from "Monday Night Football."ESPN will no longer allow Kimmel any guest appearances on MNF after the ABC late-night host made several jokes about recently-fired analyst Joe Theismann, The New York Times reported Wednesday. Kimmel, who joined Mike Tirico, Tony Kornheiser and Ron Jaworski in the booth during the third quarter of the Giants' 31-10 win over the Falcons, joked about where Theismann was, insinuated that Kornheiser got Theismann fired (their on-air chemistry was often a topic of debate last season), and later remarked, "I'd also like to welcome Joe Theismann, watching from his living room with steam coming from his ears." Kimmel's comments were "classless and disappointing," said Jay Rothman, ESPN's MNF producer, according to the Times. "It was cheap. The more he went on, the worse he got." Rothman then affirmed that Kimmel would not be invited back. Reached by the Times, Theismann said he was more amused than annoyed by Kimmel's comments. "I don't have an opinion about what people say, but it's nice to know you're missed," Theismann said. "It's interesting that people remember me." Theismann later added that MNF "has become Tony Kornheiser's show."
haha! I didn't watch the game, but I love Jimmy. Not surprised it didn't take long for him to get the boot. The bar on his show lasted exactly one Snoop Dogg day!
Speaking of Kornheiser.... is there a man in America with worse hair than him? I can't think of any. Seriously.
Dude... not eve close. Van Gundy is just bald, plenty of bald guys out there. Kornheiser manages to give bald a bad name.
It's funny listening to Tirico and Jaws ignoring Kimmel in this clip: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tG7O7GbSR6s"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tG7O7GbSR6s" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
http://community.tvguide.com/blog-e...-Guide-News/Kimmel-Discusses-Monday/800024946 Kimmel Discusses His Monday Night Football Ban Imagine finding out you’re fired, by reading about it in the New York Times. That’s just what happened to ABC late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, who kept colleagues and fans laughing on Monday Night Football (October 15) as a guest of the long-running sports show. “I guess the executive producer was upset with some jokes I made on the air, and I’m still not sure which ones, but he announced to the New York Times that I was banned from Monday Night Football,” says Kimmel. “I was surprised, I was just a guest [commentator] – this is the first time I’ve been fired from a job I didn’t have.” Kimmel adds, “I don’t feel I owe anyone an apology, quite the reverse, actually. Everyone seemed really happy in the booth and when I left and then I read in the New York times that he’s banned me.” “That is synergy in action,” jokes Kimmel on learning about his ban through the newspaper. “He told the newspaper before he told me, he still hasn’t talked to me. I heard from them. That is synergy in action.” Even though an apology isn’t in the works, Kimmel tells TV Guide, “Perhaps I’ll have words with him. We’ll see.” Kimmel will go bi-coastal next week, flying back and forth daily for a week, between New York and Los Angeles, as he steps in for Regis Philbin on Regis and Kelly in the mornings, and flies back to Los Angeles do to his own show.
Theismann was horrible. He deserves everything he got. He is probably a horrible person. Someone post the clip of his leg snapping. Bring me some joy.
He is an absolute jerk... and yes, I talk from personal experience. (I think I posted about it once long, long ago.)
Someone didn't get the memo on Kimmel's act. His bread and butter are routines at someone else's, who is usually lower in stature than him, expense.
He also started asking the guys if they could beat on games. I thought it was funny to see them squirm, because when he asked them that the camera was actually on them.
i completely agree with theisman on kornheiser. how the man is able to speak for 3 straight hours is something that should be examined by the Guiness Wolrd Book of Records
I appreciate Kornheiser. 90% of crap TV commentary takes place because no viewers are really listening to what's being said, and that allows morons like Theisman (and Walton, Buck, etc) to just ramble incoherent, stupid, and often contradictory garbage into the mike. Kornheiser may not be a football genius, but he doesn't pretend to be, and he does do a great job as a critical moderator in the booth. Say something idiotic and he doesn't let it slip past. Two guys disagree and he tries to balance things out. His style is closer to radio color than any other TV guys, and I personally think that's a nice addition. Evan
Actually, I think what happened is funny, in terms of the mess that was made. I could care less about Kimmell or Kornheiser or Thiesmann. What I do care about is having to deal with ESPN putting "celebraties" in the booth during GAME ACTION to promote crap. Do we need this? Does this appeal to ANYONE that wants to watch a football game!?!? Enough with all of that happy horse$hit! Just call the game!
Exactly...I hate watching MNF now...TK just seems to be reaching most times, and he's not very knowledgable IMHO...
A little off topic, but did anyone see Joe Buck on Conan last night? I think it's awesome how his friends text him during games and bet that he can't work certain words into the broadcast. Conan bet him $1000 that he couldn't work "jub jub" into a world series game, but Buck said he will try his hardest.
