its tough, its hard to argue that a guy who puts up those numbers isn't a superstar. he's exactly what you want out of a ball player. he's efficient, smart, plays hard, and puts up really good numbers. kobe used to be selfish, tmac used to be considered a quitter, but those guys can take over games. kg puts up the same numbers as duncan, arguably better, but duncan is a true big who can dominate a game down a stretch. and i guess typing this post i realize that kg's main problem is he is a tweener. as good as he is, he doesn't dominate in the post, and he isn't a perimeter player breaking down a defense. he's just a really good efficient player. but to take that next level you have to dominate games.

chris paul probably doesn't dominate games scoring wise, even though he can give you the occassional 35, but he will break down a defense, more than commanding a double team, he causes the entire defense to collaspe. duncan always puts pressure on the defense, always causes double teams.

being a super star is more than the numbers, its how you make the other team account for you.

He doesn't get to the line nearly enough, that's what makes his offense less impactful than his defense and rebounding, and that's what keeps him from being dominant. Offensively, he's a shooting guard in a power forward's body.

He's a great player that is definitely overrated. He definitely gives it 100% every play, and that is to be admired, but the guy has a LONG history of not wanting the ball when the game is on the line, and more importantly, completely disappearing at the end of big games.

That is why he has to have another player capable of taking over for him to win.

He's a great player and doesn't get in trouble off the court either. He celebrates once in a while but all NBA players do for the most part. It's emotional when you get into the game.

i guess punching a teammate int he face during practice is considered to be on the court trouble

Who gives a **** anyway? I certainly don't. I'm a fan/'hater' of a player strictly based on their play on the court, I couldn't care less if they are assholes, douches, pricks, thugs or whatever off the court. For example, Shane being a 'good citizen' means nothing (to avoid two 4 asterisk words in the same post) to me.

If you're 7 feet tall, a freak athlete and have any sort of skill you better be demanding the ball down low in crunch time. You don't defer to guards or catch the ball and shoot reluctant 15 footers at the buzzer. You channel the Dream, get your a$$ down low and get a high percentage shot or get to the line.

I've always defended Garnett but his reluctance to take guys down to the post and take the big shots can't be excused. If you want to be Ben Wallace, KG, then you will get Ben Wallace money. Wait, I think he is getting Ben Wallace money. Ok, the point is that he is too damn good to be a role player no matter how freakishly effective he is on the boards and defensively.

KG better hope Ray Allen comes out of this slump otherwise Big Ticket either needs to take 18-20 (good) shots a game or the Celtics are going home next round.

Yep, exactly. Garnett does not have a consistent post-up games. It's amazing he doesn't have the repertoire down low like Hakeem, Duncan, or even yao. He settles for jump shots and fadeaways ALL the time.

His career FG% is under 50%. His block shot average is under 2.0. Pretty amazing that a 7 footer with that much talent doesn't have those skills.

That said, he is one heck of a player, just not the "go-to" guy on offense. Paul Pierce is really filling that role for the Celts right now.
