Because he forces tears during interviews and opens his mouth like he's screaming on the bball court...except he doesn't really scream...he just pretends because it looks fierce (you can hear a lot of chatter, but you can't hear that "roar" KG does?)

If you get bored research my KG related posts. I agree and i've been saying this for years. Definitely the most overrated superstar in NBA history.

Not only that, his attitude and demeanor are downright hilarious. He's so cocky and pompous. You can tell this guy REALLY loves himself and thinks he's some kind of big time winner. Just a few recent examples alone: everything from the shouting match with Al Jefferson in which he emphasized his crowning achievement of being an All-Star "ELEVEN TIMES!!!!" (wow, you can win a popularity contest?) to after the Hawks series how he gave the Hawks absolutely no credit for bringing that series to seven games. His little "Dey know betta den to c*m into our house & think theys gunna win" interview after the game almost made me spit up my lunch.

That guy, as well as the rest of that Celtics team, are entirely too cocky and arrogant for a team that hasn't accomplished much. Given how shaky and beatable they've looked so far this post season you can legitimately make the point that any eight of the Western Conference playoff teams could have beaten them in a series. I don't care how they did against the West in the regular season, this is the playoffs -- the time when you're supposed to up your game and take it to a new level. This Celtics team hasn't even remotely approached that level by squeaking by a sub .500 Hawks team and a one-trick-pony Cavs team.

I will say that even though the Pistons are probably better than the Hawks and Cavs combined, Boston/Detroit will still be a hard faught series. Tayshaun on Pierce. Ray fricken Allen chasing Rip Hamilton around screens. Two psycho's in Rasheed vs. KG. It's going to be a good series.

    Which is better
    A B-Level Star giving 110%
    or
    An A-Level Star giving 85%

I still don't know how he got the DPOY award. He had 1 steal and 0 blocks in todays game I think.

His DPOY award is based on his regular season performance.

    glad i'm not alone.

kg is overrated. as a big man, he doesn't really have a low post game. tends to travel quite a bit. often disappears in clutch time. his talent level is definitely below that of c-web and mcgrady.

pounding chest and screaming isn't a sign of intensity imo, much less of a winner. just look at timmy d.

the thing i can't stand a bit is that, the way kg acts and the way the media (some fans too) reacts, it's almost like the league owes him a trophy. that is really absurd.

and based on all these years watching him on and off the court, i suspect him a thug in disguise.

i will not ever root for kg and his team.

Overrated or underrated or rated just right depends on who you talk to.

Is KG a clutch offensive player in the playoffs historically? No. I think he's had about 4 great playoff games in terms of 4th quarter clutch moments and 10 bad ones...this is all random guessing from my memory. I remember a clutch shot here and there vs Sactown...I remember total tiredness against Dallas...just my opinion.

Is KG an elite defensive player? Yes, b/c he's very long and athletic and quick and has good fundamentals. His fundamentals (such as body positioning) is not as good as Battier, but he makes up for it with his size and athleticism. So the overall package arguably makes him the best defender in the L, but it's all subjective...but he is elite for sure.

But none of this revisionist history okay? KG gets love for his emotion even though he is arrogant, but the dude was dogged just as much as T-Mac...actually more than T-Mac until they passed Denver in round 1 back in 04 I think. So after T-Mac and Yao get past round 1, that subject will die b/c 1/8 just doesn't have the same ring as "0 for" anything.

Right on, KG is extremely overrated. The media is hyping him into someone on the same caliber of KB, King James, or CP3.

He is by all means a great basketball player, but just not the no brainer MVP material

The thing that bugs me most is idiots that compare him to Tim Duncan. The guy is not even in the same universe as Timmy D.

I didn't mind him as much when he was with the Wolves. But ever since going to Boston, he's kinda become a punk. Seems to act like he's entitled to something and showing no respect for the other teams.

    but whatever

He actually walked up to Peeler and trash-talked him. Peeler elbowed the much taller Garnett in the face, and Garnett realized he might actually have to back up his talk. Of course, he put on a scowl, clenched his fists, acted tough, and waited for the refs to sort things out ... quickly

    I still love KG tho

Come on people. If anyone should be hating on KG right now, it should be me, a disgruntled Cavs fan. Yes, I am absolutely sick of KG pounding his chest after some insignificant play in the 2nd quarter, or when he screams 'I've got the midas touch baby!' after finding a penny in the parking lot.

But you can't deny he plays 100% whenever he's on the court. No, I'm not saying that because he screams and yells. I'm saying that because I've watched the games. He never gets lazy and let's his man out run him on defense. He doesn't chuck shots up on offense because he doesn't feel like running around or getting bumped. Get real, and take off the hate tinted glasses.

KG is a very consistent player. Which is also his weakness. You know what he's capable of. And you know in the clutch he will not shift into another gear and takeover a game if needed. He's consistent in his hustle and his production, for better or worse.

i think he is the only guy in the league that mimic's the dream shake but is it just me or does he always or at least 75% of the time switch his pivot foot when he makes the move? and he never gets called for it. i mean dream would have to explain to the refs what he did wasnt a travel in slo mo since he was so quick and faked the guy out so much.

there has only been one time when i saw kg pull that move and not travel the other 8 times i've seen him do it, it was a travel an obvious double pivot and nothing was called.

People may not see him in the same light as Kobe or LBJ in scoring, but they definitely see him in the same class as far as impact on the game is concerns.

I also believe his defense is somewhat overrated. Sure he is a good defense presence but no where near the class of a say, an Olajuwon or even a Deke in his prime.

If you are labeled as a "superstar," you better be able to put the team on your back at any given time and that is something KG is unable to do. I agree with Tiger in that he is a taller version of Scottie Pippen.
