I know a lot of the people on these forums do not like the pick of Luther Head at all. I, for one, will not judge until I see him play more since I do not have any idea of what kind of player he CAN be. From what I saw he is a great athlete so we will see. To the point though, going into the draft Winston was supposed to be a late 1st rounder and many on the boards wanted us to use #24 on him. Well, he did not even get drafted, I know there was some injuries that scared some teams off. BUT, is Winston a guy that Rockets will look at for Undrafted FA's. Also who else are some guys you thought SHOULD have been drafted that were not?
anyone who thinks Kennedy the Rockets should have taken Winston over head knows NOTHING about college basketball Winston disappears from games, Head was the only guy playing with heart during the national championship.
Fili freakin' Rivera The GM who winds up signing him as a rookie free agent is gonna wind up looking like a genius down the road...
Maybe we can pick him up over the summer. There were reports we were looking at hiim and he'd probably be interested in the Rockets being in Texas. I'd also like to see us look at guys like Alan Anderson and Jawad Williams.
But would they bring in another rookie PG when they already have Head? I would love to see him in Houston, and I know that the Rox brought him in a couple of times, but I don't see them keeping two rookie PGs...
I think the Rockets could at least bring in Winston or Rivera in for summer workouts. It would be like buying a 2nd Round Pick.
i think winston will be a good athletic swingman to get; get rid of ward and moochie and bring in winston
There is a lot of good ones out there. Guys like randolph morris from uk and the florida duo of roberson and walsh
also kelenna azubuike (spelling?) from kentucky, john gilchrist from maryland and the other williams from unc went undrafted
So did Mile Simone and Khalid El Amin - they played haaaarrrd for their teams in the NCAA big dance. Your point again?
I think Gilchrist could really turn out to be a good player. I dont see why we wouldnt/shouldnt sign him up for our summer team
I'm up for bringing Gilchrist or anyone in for the summer leagues, but I'm glad we didn't pick him up, even if it were with the last pick in the second-round. We don't need any more PGs and Gilchrist had some legit question marks with regard to attitude.
Two Words: Sean Banks. Athletic and can hit the three... might be able to play the 2 some and the three... worth looking at with a summer roster spot...
I just wanted a big man or a guard in the mold of Garcia or Hodge. I have seen all of them play at least 3 times. But for now, I am warming up to Luther Head with a view to what Lindsey hinted on earlier. So I will give the process time to fully blossom and maybe make more sense later.
from nbadraft.net "Considered by many a headcase… Has had numerous off-court problems including a few run-ins with the law … Was arrested three times during a seven month period during his senior year of high school"
In other threads I mentioned Alan Anderson, Matt Walsh, Jawad Williams and Kennedy Winston. I forgot about Gilchrist and Sean Banks. Banks is kind of a headcast but has A LOT of upside. Might be worth a shot for the potential. Alan Anderson sounds like a JVG type of player with his toughness and defense. Jawad Williams might be a nice 3/4 off the bench.
