Ok ok I know the dude is like 4,000 lbs and supposedly past his prime, but the guy still has game IMO. You know he has to hate this blazer rotation. Look at his carrer stats since 92-93 in points, and rebounds:

    92-93 17.8 10.7
    93-94 18.1 10.8
    94-95 18.7 10.9
    95-96 19.6 11.4
    96-97 18.7 10.0
    97-98 18.0 9.3
    98-99 20.5 9.2
    99-00 17.8 8.8

Then of course the 00-01 stats:

    PTS 7.7 REB 4.4

Given that he only sees 17 minutes of PT,
I think he could still produce, given the chance to start. Does anyone know when his contract is up or if he wants to move out of Portland????

Whether he still has game or not is debatable there is no question that at 17 minutes per he is the most overpaid player in the league,Juwan Howard's got nothin' on this guy.

Maybe if he'd drop the chalupas & Krispy Kremes from his diet he would play more than 17 minutes a game.
He is a tremendous waste of talent. I though he was a great player in Seattle then he went to Cleveland and ate his way into a good (but no longer great) player.
    It's his own fault.

I heard he was working really hard to lose weight and get in shape. Does anyone know how that's going?

My beef is: The guy is 32 years old, and still could produce some good numbers if he is given the chance to start for a contender. Im sure he wants to get off the Portland All-Star team, and yeah he does need to lose about 25 lbs. I just remember how damn athletic this guy was, slashing left and right, pulling up for the J, confident he could score at will. Defensively, he could rebound 10+ a night and make some killer blocks. Im pulling for him to get the hell out of Portland.

    Drewdog...have you seen Kemp's contract???

Literally, their is no way any team can / will / would trade for him. Portland, with Paul Allens $, were the only team that could afford him. Nnext year I think he gets about $20 million or something close...

I like Kemp also...I hope he can get in shape by the playoofs and then be something of an X factor.

I dont know, I watched the Jailblazers the other day, and Kemp didnt look all that out of shape at all. Actually he looked in pretty good shape.

Nothing at all like those Cleveland days.

Kemp may be in better shape than he was earlier this season, but I dont think he has been in great shape since he left Seattle. What were the Blazers thinking when they got him and Dale Davis anyway. They've both turned out to be busts anyway. I usually follow Indiana in the playoffs since I am a fan of Reggie Miller and I really liked Davis. He's the type of guy we could use here in Houston actually. What is Portland going to do next?...Trade for Mutumbo and put him at 3rd string center.

Shawn Kemp was actually in pretty good shape when he got to Cleveland, it was the lockout year that killed him.

Don't forget he was asked to play Center. That changed his game considerably. And he was on a sorry offensive team. Then he plays for a complete team and isn't needed.
