It could be that I'm delusional from working 8 to midnight for 20 straight days, but has Kelvin Cato been more productive lately? I have seen him working harder on the boards, making his man work for points, altering shots, and not fumbling the ball away. I know he still isn't particularly good or productive, but I feel as if I'm noticing some improvement in his game . . . is that just me, or has anyone else noticed this? Tonight's game just added to his streak of improvement.

As lazy as I think Cato is, I must admitt he had a good game last night.

    He has been playing better.

The people who have influence over Cato should convince him to get a personal trainer during the off season. I do believe that he has matured some and may be ready to accept that the hard work that he is putting in now should be continued in the off season and that the ultimate benefit of that would be the continuation of being the starting 5. The objective of the personal trainer is to covert the fat on his body to muscle which would mean a reduction in size and a more productive athlete.

In addition he needs special skill drills in the off season also. The objective here is to improve his hands. Hours and hours of this drill. Could you imagine if this is as successful as the progress he has made at the FT line? Based on progress, the drill should be expanded to a hook shot!

My theory is: IF Kelvin Cato can contribute in any given game, then the Rockets have a good chance of winning.

Many said pre-season predictions (including myself) that Cato is the key to our season.

We can expect solid play from 1-3 and hold our own at 4. (This was before injuries)

If Cato can be an average center and get 3 blk per game, then this team could be deadly.

If Cato plays like he did against the Nugz, then this team can go far into the playoffs -- next season.

Exactly what I was thinking. Cato would be MUCH better if he was less bulky.

I guess he wants to show he is worth it to keep. At least for the remaining of the season.

I would be excited about the game to if, I saw it more.

Unfortunately I won't see it again for about 10 games......

Cato has this 1 in 10 ratio thing going that drives me Batty:mad:

I must admit, I secretly have been hoping that Cato gets 2 quick fouls these last few games, and that he stays in foul trouble the whole game so we can see Eddie at center more and more.

I think since Cato bulked up, he has lost of his shotblocking abilities. W/the added weight, he doesn't seem to get off the ground as quickly as he used to. Unless he works on his legs or does alot of jumping exercises, he's probably won't be the shot blocker that he was a few years back or in college.

I agree that Cato has lost something with his bulk. Then again, he didn't have much to begin with. It appears to me that the biggest problems are that he doesn't time his jumps well, and he can't hold onto the ball. I still hold out a little hope that he may be able to not suck at some point. Lately, I've found him holding onto the ball better, and making fewer bad choices. I hope it keeps up . . .

Last season, we were trying to get him to stay on the floor and not fall for headfakes. As a result, he now stays on the floor more. :( He doesn't really know when to go for the block and when to stay on the ground. He got lots of blocks (and fouls) jumping at every shot.

Personally, I think he was more effective that way. Yeah, he'll get in foul trouble, but he'll be more useful when on the floor.
