He's the team's starting Center next season and he'll be coming off a dismal season.
A couple of years ago, I thought for sure he will be a consistent performer given the playing time which is the reason why I applauded the move from Portland to Houston.

Do you think he'll come out of his shell next season and start showing up in games? I'd really want to have an input from Houston fans on this because I feel he can be a good player down the road for Houston if he does it on a consistent basis.

What's your opinion everyone? Is Kelvin Cato going to be a revelation next season? Or is he going to be a bust?

I dont hold alot of faith in this but I HOPE he comes out and has a productive year......I`m not asking for 20/10 a game, I would be happy with 15/6

These are the #s I want to see from Cato before I start to 'believe':

    10-10-2-2

    As in 10pts, 10rebs, 2blks over 2 SEASONS!

Not this, 20-10-game-once-a-month crap he's shown over the past couple of seasons!

I want to see sustained consistency!

I like Cato since I follow the big 12 and though getting him was a good move for the Rockets. I have now come to the conclusion that he will never be a player for Rudy. He needs to go back with Floyd, go to the heat with Riley, go to play for Karl. I doubt he every does well for a coach that treats him like a man, he needs a coach that gets in his face and demands that he play. Rudy and others, like Jackson, will never do that.

That's a pretty pitiful comment about Cato. What worries me is that you are probably right. We'll find out pretty soon.

But, rather than the coaches, the team leaders (Francis, Mobley and now Rice) have to get on his ass. Clearly the coaches haven't been able to touch him. With Taylor out he is even more important to our success this year.

I hope that Kelvin Cato can really put it together. Mark cuban
mentioned that Don Nelson wanted him bad but he had so character issues so that why they traded him in the draft. I hope
for 10 points 9 rebound 2 block a game for 2years I wanted a double-double. 10 rebound was pushing our luck peace out

Cato reminds me of the really tall kid in school who used to be picked for the basketball team just because he was tall. You know the one I mean- he used to just stand under the ring on the defensive end.

    Let's hope I'm wrong.

I think it's very possible for Cato to get these numbers this year:

    9pts/10rebs/2.5blks

I'll be very happy if he can put up these kinds of numbers this year.

That's not a bad prediction. I consider that 10 rebs every game next season but if he fail to deliver those numbers, I think CD and Rudy can exercise a trade for cato before Christmas time.

If he hasn't improved any since last season, you're up for a big let-down.

9 PPG actually doesn't seem too off, with some playmakers in Francis, Mobley, and Mooch.

But 10, and 2.5 seems very outlandish.

I disagree with all the negative comments being posted about Kelvin Cato. I feel this upcoming season is a great opportunity that he will ultimate advantage of. To all those that show lack of confidence in his talent try not to jump on the bandwagon too late. Cato "This is your season Baby!!! Play on "Trendsetter"!

    The stats I'm looking for:

    30 minutes per game.

There's no doubt Cato can be productive. He works well with Francis and Cat, and if he can stay out of foul trouble and just stay on the floor, it could mean the difference between lottery and playoffs.
