Maybe it's not his philosophy, and maybe this should be in the other forum, but JVG was spot on about what he said about HCA. I've never looked at it like that before, but he is completely right. He said that HCA doesn't matter that much for games 1 and 2, and game 5, but it really matters in game 7. More spefically, the final 3 or so minutes in game 7, if it is that close. When did Dallas win game 5, the same game they almost gave away, the same game they almost ended their season? In the final 3 minutes of regulation. The crowd was behind them, they took the timeout and relaxed themselves. Golden State however probably psyched themselves out. They were on the road, frustration set in, tension, emotions boiling over... If this series goes to 7 games, (which I do not think it will because no matter how bad Golden State got rattled in Dallas, Don Nelson will prepare his team for game 6 and they will play Warrior ball, which is playing loose), but if this series goes to 7 games, unless the Warriors are up 20 or something coming down the stretch, I fully expect Dallas to win the series. My point being, if OUR series goes to 7 games, which it probably will, and if it comes down to the last 3 mintues, which it probably will, we have the advantage. We have a relatively young and inexperienced opponent, maybe they will get rattled. We have to play our game and use the crowd to fuel us. I'm thankful we stole HCA, it might be the key to winning this series. Not games 1,2, and 5, but game 7. Down the stretch, game 7. I'm calling it. The defining moment of Yao's and T-Mac's careers so far. This is where all-stars are made into superstars. The difference between man and boy. Let the truth be told, because it's win or go home.
Sounds good and all, but Id rather have Yao and Tmac's coming out party, to be on thursday and finish them off once and for all.
Disagree. The warriors got away from playing up tempo and running through Baron Davis. Instead they played ISO and forced Michael Pietrus and Stephen Jackson to score at the end.
I am grateful to hear those Dallas Fans (Oh wait, I mean there is no Dallas fans, Mark Cuban hired homeless to sit in the empty seats) chant "You Suck" I am grateful to see Mark Cuban almost cried when his Dirk No-win-ski,Jerry Steakhouse,Jason tearry and other losers down by 9. I am grateful to see those losers go home in 1 day and 20 hours.
agree. some really bad no calls for GSW and calls for Mavs in the last 3 min. and still Mavs were lucky to escape with the win. don't get me wrong, the Mavs had some great plays, and they also had zebra help.
That's right, HCA is a myth. Oh wait, 5-5 home teams have won so far in this series..... JVG is just trying to make a game 7 win seem like an inevitability, trying to relax his guys and put pressure on Utah. Mind games, nothing more.
warriors were robbed. but I guess you should expect that type of officiating when playing a team that went to the finals last year.
HCA is important in more than the deciding game of the series...think about this. We opened this series doing what we were supposed to do and that is set the tone for the series in winning both games. Utah has to hold serve on their home court...we come back and get the advantage again (the pivotal game 5 win)...Utah has the pressure on them to hold serve on their court again. We can play lose and relax (we have 2 to get 1). If HCA were not important throughout the series...esp in a 4 vs 5 matchup...we would be reacting and in the passenger seat like Utah because we would have lost the first 2 on the road and would have had to come home to win 3 & 4. We're clearly in the drivers seat and they are Ms. Daisy in the passenger seat. I think we should drive their asses into their summer vacation...Gone Fishing in Salt Lake City! Can't wait to see Kenny and Chuck pull out the rods and hats again!
Totally agreed. That was bad, sure Dirk showed up, but the ref love for the Mavs was embarassing. Touch foulout for Baron Davis in the backcourt (and he didn't actually foul), no call on the corner three for JRich when Dirk wiped him out. Just stupid stuff by the refs, giving GSW no chance.
Sorta reminds you of Micheal Finley standing out of bounds and slapping the ball out of Yao's hands a couple of years ago doesn't it! The refs won't let Dallas loose a series at home. Can't make Uncle Markie mad!
Did you doubt that JVG was right? I mean, Utah has always been a tough place to play with the altitude, rowdy Mormons, and cheating refs. He merely stated the obvious, which, strangely, was not obvious to the players or some of the fans.
Last night Dallas played their best game ever but just bearly escaped with the win. I do not think this series will go seven. GS will keep their cool at home and finish the series in 6.
