We wouldn't have Brooks because Rick was really high on him. I doubt Jeff would be high over a short player.

And his offensive scheme doesn't work on Tracy because ... he just quits. And a coach's job isn't to motivate players. That's the contracts purpose. Teachers don't motivate students. It's the grades. Same thing.

And effort has a lot of things to do with defense. And Rick's teams are known to be pretty good defense. Statistically, the Kings were real good at defense. Top 3, if I'm not mistaken.

This team is missing one thing. Effort.

JVG treated McGrady differently. His way of motivating him was challenging him. When Yao went down, JVG took TMac to the corner of the gym and said, "This will be your finest hour." Whether McGrady wanted it to be his finest hour or not, he accepted the challenge, and that stretch was arguably TMac's best of his career. I like the way JVG challenged TMac more than anything. That's how superstars should be treated. JVG made TMac seem like more of a leader than he really is.

JVG's biggest complaint was not having the greatest roster. He has praised Daryl Morey time after time for building such a deep team. JVG really wanted an athletic 4 who could stretch the floor (Scolandry), a backup point guard (Brooks), and a veteran who could bring energy off the bench (Artest). The best he had to work with was JL3, Luther, a Bouncy, and Juwan, of whom none will be in the league next year.

Like Adelman has done better with the teams he has now? If JVG had this team right now, we would be 1st on the defensive side and maybe better on offense.

All you idiots are calling for JVG now, but how many of you wanted him to be fired?

    more talented?

Adelman has a 5% TMAC and 25% of Yao .
JVG got a 100% TMAC and 100% Yao and younger.

who did better so far? check out the results.

    Adelman > JVG.

I thought we were talking about playoff success? Adelman has as much playoff success with the Rockets as JVG did.

    OK playoffs.

    JVG got Yao+TMAC.
    Adelman got TMAC only.

    same results, much different talents.

I really do believe we can get JVG back. Why hasn't he accepted any other coaching jobs? Do you think the players are doing this on purpose just to get Rick Adelman fired and get JVG back? Those are all the questions I am asking to myself..

You guys are vindicating what I've been saying for years...

To the OP, THANK YOU FOR SAYING AS MUCH. For all the JVG hate toward the end of his last season following the playoffs, I tell ya, I couldn't agree with the OP and other posters here more.

JVG was the better coach for Yao and T-Mac.

And quite frankly, while it's speculation, imho, he would have been the better coach for THIS team. Tonite's loss was just embarrassing.

This is not a knee jerk reaction, this is me coming out and concluding after 30+ games this season that we are, sadly, NOT a contender.

JVG would have kept this game close. We would be winning the games we should be winning and making tough games tight and competitive.

    :( :( :( :( :( :(

I did not know this thread was about Adelman.

    Rudy T did better.
    Del Harris did better.
Bill Fitch did better. So what is your point.

And BTW, JVG had a more a younger, more athletic and more talented TMac than Adelman has.

But it's not like JVG ever blew a 2 game to zip lead in the play offs or lost a game 7 on his home court...oh wait...

With ron and shane and JVG, we would be one of the best defensive teams ever

A love how JVG coach the Rockets on the road against Utah. The offense look great back them, so great that we only need 4 players to score.
