Hey, not EVERY player is gonna help the team out. I was hoping both would work out, but nope, they clearly don't have it.

Mo Cheeks, Adelman, Saunders, Rivers and countless other "players coaches" have lost their team, lost their games, and lost their jobs...

There are good coaches and bad coaches with all different styles. Categories like these are rather useless.

The following two things are both true:

    1. Lots of players have come through Houston and been benched, traded, let go, etc., and have later whined that they weren't used correctly here or that the coach tried to make them into something they weren't. Almost uniformly, this is deluded, self-excusing whining. They were asked to work hard, improve their defense, learn plays and rotations, etc. You know, the things that could help a team led by Yao and McGrady win a championship. They were given time to do this. They failed. And they refuse to learn their lesson. Or they just don't care.

    2. Jeff Van Gundy is very slow to sour on you if you're one of his guys, or to give you another look if you aren't. Too slow. If he never wins a championship, I'm afraid this will be his epitaph. And maybe ours.

I thought Patrick Ewing was 100% responsible for Yao's greatness

We are the Rockets. You are posters that b**** nonstop even when we play well. Perhaps it's the language barrier

And I don't feel I am a superior fan to DD or anyone else...I'm sure they love the Rox as much as I do or they wouldn't spend so much time here talking about them.

But we are winning, playing well, played well without our superstar, and people here b**** about not developing a third string PG. ;)

Interesting use of the language! It is point 2 genuine fans of the team have a problem with. No problem - have rules. But apply them uniformly.

    Two specific issues

    1. When a game is really going badly- why do we not tap our bench more- a loss will be a loss? Case in point Luther- a great guy, works hard and does his role- but on some days, against certain match ups he is the wrong option

    2. When we are blowing out teams in the 4th quarter why cant we give the bench more playing time?

Play well, play more, that's all.

I think that's the rule of thumb JVG uses. Don't know about you but I think it's a betty good rule. Now, I know the first thing you'll say is bench Alston!

Sorry, no one else is better then him so no, this will not work in that case

As for the bench, it's thin in our minds because we don't think Howard and Deke and Head and Snyder and Wells is any good. Are they?

VSpan, JL3, Novak and that other Greek is the DEEP bench and will not likley play much.

Really, no team plays all 12 active players. So the 9th to 12th on the bench is going to warm the bench unless their play will not effect the game.

i think jvg handled the situation correctly, but as a coach i do think he is alittle too unflexible. When he is set with a rotation, it will be very difficult for ppl outside the rotation to get in and this might have created the dispute between these players and the coach. But watever, the best thing to do now is to bench who ever disagrees and not hurt the team more before playoffs

Just different perspective, what you call b****ing, I call constructive criticism.

We both want the same thing....a championship.....

People like me just see the flaws that could ultimately cost the team a chance at that ring.....but, we are relatively happy with the record.....RELATIVELY that is......

I guess the reason you post ONLY 9 times every friggin day is because you are only "relatively happy." All that needs to be said about your so-called "constructive criticism" is to realize that Luffy, a guy who seldom ventures out of LULU land, is your best ally.

He is like the Irish guy in Braveheart to my William Wallace !!!

I just like to discuss things about the Rockets, whether they are controversial or not...it is just fun to talk Rocks.....

Being a fan and having an opinion is great....and not agreeing with everyone else is fun too......

We are all here for one reason....the Rockets.....and only 9 a day, I must be slipping.

Keep on going DaDa - you have a lot of support here. We know your Brave Heart bleeds Rocket Red......

Hey DaDa - how about our coach giving Luther time at the point, but shipping off Boki for a loaf of bread. Luther has no D-at least it appears to me-JLIII shouldn't be in the NBA,but V-Span is in the Dog house and Boki is down the road.

Can someone please explain to me the genius that is the inconsistent JVG? I am but an ignorant fan.

I remember that. JVG should get credit though for getting Yao to defend opposing guards 20' out from the basket....too far from basket and wears Yao out....

does that mean the downfall of Rafter should be accredited to Charlie Ward? ;)

Sorry Will but I must disagree with you on this one!
For example Steve Novak a spot up three point shooter specialist. What chance has he had to improve his game- hardly any! JVG just won't take the time !
He is so focused on 'Win Now".

Why would a slightly different opinion give cause to you being so rude?
