Hey guys, sorry for the annoying thread, but I've been told that Jeff van Gundy ripped the Suns a new one during some downtime of last night's game (Hou @ GSW). I didn't catch the game, so can anyone give me an idea of what he said? I'm interested to hear his opinion on the matter, because the Suns seem to be the antithesis of what JVG tried to accomplish in the NBA. Thanks.

Basically that none of their stars play defense. There is no desire from any of them to do so... Shaq, Amare, and Nash. They are all playing offense only. He then questioned why are they considered great. Greatness is for Jordan who played hard on both ends of the court. He also mentioned Pippen doing the same thing.

And he really went off on how everyone is pointing the finger at Porter. Both Bell and Diaw took shots at him when they left and he insinuated that none of the current players really respect him either...

Basically what you would expect from JVG:

He did rip the Suns for not wanting to play defense at any level. Going right to their stars, Nash, Amare, and Shaq.

He also said, if you don't agree with the system, come out and say it right away. Don't wait until you've lost a few games, stop trying, and THEN say you don't believe in the coach because he deserves better than that.

Basically you can tell he thinks they suck ****.

Well, I don't know about Shaq, he did play D inside the paint when he was younger.

    But Amare and Nash...

Amare...defense? What defense? Dies it show on the stat sheet? The Suns fans didn't give him the nickname 'Stat' for no reason.

Nash...greatrest is measured by spoon feeding the big men for dunks and then take it easy on the court to wait for the next offensive possession.

Amare gave himself that nickname, not the Suns' fans.

And it's STAT, as in "Standing Tall and Talented"

Padding STAT fits Amare much better.

You knew this was going to happen since JVG is a former coach and will naturally defend head coach Terry Porter.

Obviously JVG rips the players for not following Porter's ideas. Suns haven't won a ring or even been to the Finals with this era of players, so why are they complaining? They don't have the desire to play defense and just score points.

Offense wins games, defense wins championships. How many rings have the Suns won? Yet the Suns prefer to play the Mike D system. Why? Because it increases their STATs and therefore their income. Did I miss anything?
