jvg said he doesnt know wut to expect from rafer, says he shot horrible last season which is why we were a bad team, rafer HAS to improve his shooting vspan is going to be a good player in the league because he has passoin, mental and physical strength etc., he has to improve shooting and adjust to the nba u need low turnover guy who can shoot and space the floor to play with tmac and yao starting line up is not the best players on the team, but the best fit around tmac and yao
How's Bonzi with what you've seen so far? He's an underrated passer, and good rebounder. Getting him into shape is a high priority. (guess he noticed his weight like us...) Jeff's coaching ability: Asked about Bonzi possibly moving into a role player instead of a star. Talked about his past with Spree and that the best way to work with your players and getting them into the right role is to be direct and truthful. Jeff's take on the PG's: Commented on rafer's shooting dropping. Biggest factor was inability to shoot the 3 and defend the 3. Needs him to bounce back into the mid-high 30%. Emphasizes that Vspan WILL be a good player in the nba! He has high a energy level/passion and has strong mental and physical toughness. He will needa get adjusted with playing night in night out. As opposed to twice a week in Greece. Talked about his great quickness, great understanding and use of the pick and roll. Lacking on his ranged shooting. He's going to be a driver until he gets his shot up. Versatility of the roster: unquestionably we have more talent how will it fit with chemistry and committment? that will be determined. its not a combination factor (combo players and what not), its what fits best in winning. spacing the floor, low TO and make the 3. talked about baseball, but eh, I didn't care cause it had nothing to do with the rockets. Said we'd be killing it if we had A-rod. "if we dont do better, im gonna be trying out to be a red rowdy and will be in the stands vying for free tickets" Good interiview IMHO on insight with vspan and bonzi.
JVG taking bad about his players in public !! Not a good sign for building respect and chemistry. Why downgrade Alston, a playmaker point guard, when you have so many others that can shoot the ball? Its not what a good coach should be doing at this point of the season IMHO! Who is A Rod?
over-emphasize much? He didn't talk that bad of Rafer. He just said he had a drop in his long-range shooting last season which needs to improve. He didn't say Rafer's play (shooting or defending) was the reason they were bad team. He was commenting on the two areas of THE TEAM that hurt them last season. You guys are making WAY too much over the comments made about 'Skip'.
JVG's speaking the truth. We NEED Rafer to shoot better. If he can't get that 3 pt pct up, then he might as well sit on the bench, because JL3, VSpan, Head, Snyder, and Big Shot Bobby want to see the court. Give the man an ultimatum. He did this to Jon Barry last year at the beginning of the season, and J Barry came out and led us in scoring in our first game.
I think Luther head's summer improvements have impressed JVG. Expect Head to take over the starting PG and/or closing games time. Hopefully, by the end of season, Head and VSpan will be creating a lot of problems for other teams from the PG position. Rafer is too inconsistent and soft to be the PG for a team that is trying to win big. Mentally he is really weak and usually makes mistakes during crunch time. Thus, the emphasis on being mentally tough in regard to VSpan.
Alexander Emmanuel "Alex" RodrÃguez (born July 27, 1975, in New York City), is an American baseball player. He is currently the starting third baseman for the New York Yankees, after having played shortstop for the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners. He has won two MVP Awards, also finishing second in the voting twice. He has led the American League in home runs 4 times. He has often been cited as the best all-around player currently in baseball, but his playing woes have also been much analyzed.[1] RodrÃguez is known for signing the richest contract in sports history, a 10-year, $252 million dollar deal. From Wikipedia GO YANKEES~! time to tear the tigers into shreds~!
A-Rod is probably the biggest name in baseball. Just like asking...Who is LeBron James? Or, who is Peyton Manning? Or, who is Roger Federer? Or, who is Ronaldinho? Or, who is Rezdawg?
I love how the opinion of Jeff Van Gundy is the final arbiter as to what is "myth" and what is not in some people's mind.
