Looking at how many minutes Howard and Padgett have been getting in the last few games, and watching them clank shot after shot, I just have one little question:

Could Novak on the floor be any worse than either Howard or Padgett on the floor? I figure, even if Novak is clanking shots, he can't also be any worse defensively than either of those two, can he?

And something tells me Novak is not going to be clanking those shots that JHo and Scotty have been bricking up there.

People can say all they want about our nightly 'slumps', call it a lapse, a breakdown, allowing the other team to go on a run, whatever.

The only thing that has really happened is that, with Hayes out, our 4 spot has been atrocious, and the other teams have made the proper adjustments in order to force the ball into the hands of players whom we definitely do NOT need taking shots.

Padgett, Howard, even Snyder tossing up brick after brick in the second half of games is what is doing us in.

Snyder needs to stop spotting up for 3's, and Padgett and Howard need to be sitting in favor of Novak.

Just one simple question, why did you think that, considering this discussion is going on in 15 different threads, another one was needed?

And 2: why didn't you include "PLAY V-SPAN" in your post? That juse means somebody else is going to have to post it before the end of the page.

Howard will not be getting any time when Hayes comes back, Padgett is playing well and I have no complaints with him

I am on vacation, and I don't feel like reading 9,000 other posts just to check to see if anyone else might be feeling the same way as me.

Actually, thanks for validating it for me, so I don't have to. Lets me know that it is a legitimate question.

    ;)

(of course, the only person who it really matters as to whether or not he is feeling the same way is JVG)

(also, I am not among the 'Play V-Span' crowd - his outside shot is not good enough yet. Next year.. next year..)

    The answer is simple.

Padgett plays much better defense than Novak, hustles, and is a decent rebounder at least.

Howard is JVG's favourite pet due to his "professionalism", and understands the system well.

Would Novak fare any worse than them? Offensively, definitely not. Defensively? I think he's just a little bit worse than Howard.

The only way you will see any change of Novak or VSpan playing this season is for JVG to quit or he gets fired. I wouldn't mind either one. I am in the mode of no matter what the team does this season with JVG, he should not be back next year. I don't care if he does lead this team to win.

What? Now you are the forum police?

As for the topic, I think it is all up in the air as to whether V-Span or Novak would be better, but I for one would like to find out as I seriously doubt they can do much worse.

No, I didn't call you out for posting too much - I called you out for posting an incredible volume of repetitive, reflexive drivel with little analytical value, as have others in the past. The difference between my voluminous posting history and yours is that: A substantial portion of mine does not suck as hard as yours do, frequently your posts suck harder than a useless handheld videogame console because you put no thought into them, you just type the predictable stuff over and over and over "play novak and vspan, play novak and vspan" -- etc.

Wow...so even if we win a championship, you wouldn't want JVG back...just because you don't like him?

LOL - at your sig Sam,

You are the KING of making leaps of logic.

I said Juwan would do "OK" in that thread, and that a combination of Juwan, Hayes, Novak and Battier would be alright at complimenting Yao.

And, for the most part they have been until Hayes got hurt.

    You crack me up.....

I think having Novak on the floor will increase the confidence of the other 4 playing. It was shown that our players are VERY VERY comfortable when Novak was on the court during preseason... Rafer called Novak "instant assist", which means Rafer pretty much loves to pass to him, and therefore we can have less of "rafer clanking up shots from fastbreaks and pick'n'rolls". Also from what i saw when Novak did play, Mcgrady and Battier were so much more loose and they started to DRIVE or FEED YAO, because they know there is a "Layup from three point range" from Novak if they can draw double teams. Mcgrady will drive to the basket more than ever, and he will get assists, and layups...

SO IT IS MUCH BETTER when Novak is on the floor. Even though he isn't a Defense specialist, i don't think he can do that much worse than Jhow or Padgett in that aspect consider what he can do on the other side! ;)

No it wouldn't be any worse. JVG is r****ded. I'm so upset with the roation I would be happy to see them throw John Lucas out their hell he looked decent last year and he barely played in the preseason. Because they wanted to see V-Span. Padgett is garbarge, J-Ho is garbage. Padgett use to nail open threes and be a solid rebounder, he doesn't do much of that anymore. Thats' why everybody likes Chuck Hayes, youth and fresh legs. Deke was very good last year I would even prefer them finding a young athletic center that can catch the ball when it is thrown to them, his legs are gone. I'm waving my finger at the t.v. everytime he gets in like no no no. Novak to me is one of the best shooters of my time Bird, Reggie Miller, Peja, Novak. We lost alot of games for just poor subsitution patterns.

I like a lot of things about Padge's game esp. when he does not hesitate on his shot wondering if he actually has permission from Gundy to let it fly. His D and RB's are both good. But I am getting tired of the hesitation on the 3's. Padge hammer them home boy!

If he can't, won't, isn't allowed to then I wanna see Novak in, esp. before JHo sees floor time.

What is it with Gundy making good players nervous?

Novak will see the floor before the regular season ends. Actually he has gotten PT, hasnt he? He was the 6th man the first game, and got some PT the first couple games. Gundy pulled him out because probably he didnt like Novak out there doing some of the things he was doing. I am no JVG, but one thing I could really tell was Novak was really nervous, and sucked at even entry passing.
Now, I am all for Novak in for several minutes here and there, esp when have sizable leads to redeem/develop. But in the mean time, you cant fault JVG not playing him either.

Playing Padgett because he supposedly has better D is mind boggling to me. Dude has no D and actually got us into the penalty real quick in the fourth quarter in one of our games. Hopefully Chuck returns and is healthy all season or we gonna have to get a 4 from another team. I think Novak's play in the pre-season should have guaranteed him a spot in the rotation but its obvious that JVG has different agendas.
