Ugh, I'm now in the States for the first time in over 7 years, and I'm visiting my sister here in Chicago. Was boarding the public train (underground) and a person 'accidentally' fell into me, so of course I helped him up, while the other person very kindly helped himself to my wallet in my pocket. I realised just after I got on and the doors closed... FML On a slightly happier note, I'm going to see Rockets vs Bulls next Monday for my first NBA game ever! Hopefully the Rockets will win to ease this annoyance.
Probably did, my sister and I are meant to go to New York today, and we were heading back to the apartment with luggage so I probably looked quite touristy. Annoys the crap out of me, the Chicago pd on the phone were quite helpful though, although you can get the tone that nothing can ever been done about it. It's just gone.
first mistake. you got on the train. now I know why bigtexxx hates the train. (not like he would ride it, buy still)
Hope you didn't lose anything too important other than $$$. So let's get this started, what race were they?
I got scammed buying some grass in Chi Town back in the late 90's. it was literally grass. I must have looked like a mark ass buster i've been back a few times in the past few years for Lollapalooza and my friend almost fell for a subway scam- the old I'll swipe you on my unlimited transit and you give me a dollar and if you don't I'll make a scene and intimidate you routine
And that's why I always put my wallet in my front pocket. And cut a whole in the wallet. And a whole in the pocket. And pull my penis through. That'll teach them.
What station and line were you near at the time? I live a block away from the Logan Square stop off the Blue Line.
I was changing from the blue Line to the Red Line at Jackson. Lost a total of $280 I think, and some debit cards which were immediately canceled. Ugh now I have to get another ID card which just be a pain. Oh well, I gues I learnt something today, always wear jeans win tight pockets.
Less tight pants and more just move your wallet to your front pocket in crowded places (or that's what I do.) Sorry about this US travel experience!
Quick update: I'm back in England, and after checking my balance I found that the thieves managed to withdraw $118 dollars, making it a total of $338 gone from me. HSBC told me that I should be able to call disputed and get the money back though, which is good. But seriously, f**k thieves.
