ESPN Article Differences caused 'the irretrievable breakdown' -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Associated Press CHICAGO -- Michael Jordan's wife has filed for divorce, seeking to dissolve her 13-year marriage to the world's most famous basketball player, the Chicago Tribune reported on its Web site Monday night. In a petition filed Friday in circuit court in Waukegan, Ill., Juanita Jordan cited "irreconcilable differences" in seeking a dissolution of her marriage to Jordan. She seeks permanent custody of the couple's three children, the 25,000-square-foot "marital residence" in Highland Park and half the couple's property. The petition listed the couple as J. Vanoy Jordan and M. Jeff Jordan. "It is the parties' hope that the media respect the family's need and desire for privacy in this painful matter," Juanita Jordan's lawyer, Don Schiller, told the Tribune. The six-page petition says irreconcilable differences have caused "the irretrievable breakdown" of Mrs. Jordan's marriage to the basketball superstar and that future attempts at reconciliation "would be impractical and not in the best interests of the family." The couple was married Sept. 2, 1989, in Las Vegas. Their children are Jeffrey, 13, Marques, 11, and Jasmine, 9. Jordan cited a desire to spend more time with his family when he retired from the Bulls the first time in October 1994 and again in January 1999. He maintained his Chicago-area residence when he returned to basketball as a front-office executive with the Washington Wizards last season, but his decision to resume his playing career has kept him in Washington full-time. The petition describes Jordan as "a well and able-bodied man who is capable of making suitable provisions for the support and maintenance of the Petitioner and for the support and education of the parties' children in a style commensurate with that enjoyed by the parties during marriage." Jordan, who was paid more than $30 million in his final season with the Bulls, is one of the world's richest athletes. He plays at home Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
You know, from what I heard, Jordan's first child with Juanita Jordan came before their marriage. That "accident" may have caused them to marry for the interest of the kid. Of course, they may have truly loved each other at the time. And maybe that kid wasn't an accident either. Oh well. But. I wonder if there will be disagreements from Jordan on child custody. I mean, wouldn't the Kids wanna hang out with Dad Alot more than mom is calling for.
A sham in what way? You mean that the player's a.) gay or b.) treating it as an open relationship in which the man can sleep with as many groupies as they can or c.) something else which I'm too tired to think of right now. Cite some references so we can read the salacious details.
This came as no suprise to me. They never really appeared close or anything, you would rarely see them together in public, it's like they lived in two seperate worlds. Who know the specifics of why they divorced, but like I said, I'm not suprised at all.
"irreconcilable differences" Maybe he is wanting to hang out with his best pal Ewing at the Atlanta stripclubs?
You kids are sick. Why can't you take this shyte to the Hangout or some Page Six message board where it belongs? I don't know where to start...do you guys feel any better about yourselves after posting comments about someone's personal life?
There was once a LOT of love in this relationship. But MJ developed a reputation among insiders (I worked for the Trib in through the mid nineties) as a womanizer and when he started spending much time in Washington---things really started cracking. It's a shame. I think if he went home and forgot about basketball and just enjoyed his family they'd be ok. But MJ, I don't believe, can't get basketball off his brain. I feel especially for the kids.
Some of you guys might find this funny or amusing but there is nothing funny about this at all. I've gone through this and yeah she'll get a good chunk of change, but there isn't enough money in the world to make a kid feel better knowing his family is breaking. I can't believe people can't separate Jordan the basketball player from Jordan the man and his family.
BREAKING NEWS: I have inside info on why Jordan's wife wants a divorce. Check out this pick of MJ with Micheal Jackson. Something is definitely going on b/n those two. MJ + MJ = Love???
