What do you guys think about John Thompson coaching the Rocks. He can relate to Steve and Cuttino remember he dealt with Allen Iverson. JT has worked with several big men Ewing, Mourning, and Dikembe. He has been and analyst for the NBA the past couple of years, so he has had a chance to evaluate the NBA game.

He's a good big man coach. However, I think he ragged on Yao at the beginning of the season that took a little of my like for him off.

He'd be as good as he was a back up to Bill Russell. Leave John Thompson to his DC sports talk show and foil for Danny Ain't.

I believe what A-Train meant was that you shouldn't recruit guys from the college rank based on the track record of those three guys.

No, no, NO!!! This guy is a racist, and a terrible coach. He couldn't even consistently win at the college level with the talent he had accumulated.

    Well neither can Rudy.

JUST GET A NEW COACH WHO CAN ACTUALLY COACH... :) I know Rudy can coach. But his coaching style is not working for us. Our offense.....is not offense. It is just one on one all day. There is no movement. Our offense is terrible. No ball movement. Nobody is even trying to get open. They just stand there and watch. Our defense is all right. But we are like last in assists. We need a good coach who can teach our players the basic things.

I don't post often, but here's my take: in college the guys play a short season. If you have a good team, talent wise, then there are probably only 4-5 games a year that you have to really get up for(excluding tounaments), because your talent is so much better than the other people around you. The coaches really only have to coach and motivate for those few games. Their main concern is recruiting the talent, so that they stay ahead of everybody else.

When you make the pro's, everybody is pretty much equal, talent wise, to a large degree. So, instead of having only 4-5 games that you really have to motivate for, you suddenly have 82. And that's why so many of these college coaches fail. You can't keep somebody going for 82 games with rah-rah and smoke and mirrors.

JT would be no exception. The game ain't the same, and the coaching ain't the same. If the rockets replace Rudy, they have too much talent to waste it with a college coach who is going to take 2-3 years to adjust(if ever).

The only guy that I feel could really do the job would be Lenny wilkens. He won a championship in the late 70's with a team pretty much like the rockets are now. Del Harris wouldn't be too bad either. But, if they are staying in hose, then its got to be Larry Smith. He's paid his dues, and he knows the game

First of all, I know what A-Train meant. He's a practical poster.

Second of all, why is it anytime a black man is strong willed, successfull and doesn't all ways say what other races want to hear, he's labeled a racist. Its ridiculous, all you people want is black guys who just shut up and have nothing to say about the state of current affairs, and I'm not even a John Thompson fan, but anytime someone like John Thompson, Nolan Richardson, Jim Brown, etc. have something to say you label these guys racist. I think you guys are the ones with the problems
