Ok, I'm not sure what John Stockton said after he retired but either having fun here or seriously, can the Rockets Managements convince him out of retirement?

Oh yeah, he's 42 but I think he could play for 2 more years no problem. When I look at his stats, it's amazing to see he hasn't miss a single game in 4 straight years.

Injuries or old age is really a problem with JS. This guy is built to play until he's 60.

Would you want to see Reggie Miller play on the Knicks?

Would you want to see Larry Bird have come out of retirement and play for the Lakers?

There are certain players who should never play on certain teams - because to do so would run everything fans love about basketball.

John Stockton playing for the Rockets would be one of those things. How could and self-respecting fan root for John Stockton as a Rocket?

John Stockton played better for the Jazz last year than Francis played during the same period. I'd take Johnny Stock's 50% fg shooting, 85% ft, 11 pts, 7.5 assists and 2.1 turnovers in 28 minutes per game over Stevie Fancy's s-h-i-t-t-y play any day of the week.

Well, I'm not %100 sure about the history between the Jazz and Rockets but if we have a chance of bringing back a hall of fame player and one of the greatest PG then why not? It's not like Stockton gave the Rockets fans the middle finger when they play against one another.

I mean Stockton would do anything to win a championship and the if the Rockets have a place for him and if you look like a real contender, why not try and see? I mean look at Malone who pretty much went to a contender like the Lakers to have a chance to win it all. If the Lakers do take it this year, maybe Stockton would consider?

I don't really care, I mean the ROCKETS is dearly in need of a pure PG at the moment and maybe for next year. Francis will never be a pure PG no matter how hard he try.

Man, hell no. I can handle the Rockets bringing in old Knicks, but if they started bringing in ex-Jazz players that would be the last straw for me.

John Stockton is the son of Lucifer.

Ok let just say that Stockton agree to sign a one year deal to play for us because he thinks we are a contender. What do you Jazz haters will think?

I not saying Stockton is the only options but I'm just making giving us one option that we have nothing to lose.

Well we're now rooting for Ewing as a Rocket to coach our almighty Yao Ming.... Heck if Stockton and teach Francis a thing or two that can help us, then let's chunk him on our coaching staff too.

Ok, I've been a member here for a while and I never post - for the most part I just enjoy glancing through the threads every now and again (it was a lot easier to get good info and interesting discussions before Yao and the site blew up but I'm not complaining, and that's not really important). My point is, that I've pretty much never posted but I have to say that i felt moved enough by this to say something.

I'm not going to totally bash you becaue all you're trying to do is bring up something that you think might deserve some merit. And throwing out Stockton's age and all the clear objections to this, I think most people on this board would like to have a true Stockton-esque point guard (even typing that makes me cringe).

Having said that, there is absolutely no way at all that I could stand having Stockton on this team or any other Rockets team ever. Ditto that Malone and Hornaseck (sorry no clue how to spell that) or frankly any other lesser Jazz player, Russel, Ostertag, I don't care who. But Stockton......Stockton??? All I'm going to say is that when Stockton hit that three to knock us out of the playoffs I literally stopped, turned off the T.V., sat there numb for a few seconds and then proceeded to bawl like a new born baby. No joke, I cried hardcore. That shot was the most gut wrenching horrible thing that has ever happened to me in my decade or so of being a Rockets fan. I'm only 20 so forgive me if there is another moment equal to that, but I surly cannot imagine it.

So, Stockton on our team? Please, for the love of everything good and sacred of the Rockets don't ever mention that again.

Of course that's just my opinion - I could be wrong....

one of the main problems with having stockton on the team is that i would purchase tickets to the first home game and murder stockton as soon as he stepped on the court in a rockets uniform. and that would just be a bad use of capspace at that point.

Thanks FriendofEarth for letting some of us here of knowing the reason for the hatred of the Jazz. Well, think about it. The Rockets got nothing to lose because they've won 2 Championships and the Jazz zippo. I can't understand why most still hold grudges against the Jazz for what happen if they followed teh Rockets when they won their first 2 Championships. I mean i could understand if it's for the new fans who never witnessed the first 2 Championships.

I mean if it's wasn't for Stockton old age and knowing that he might never play for us, the opinions of having him on this team will be pretty positive. It's like saying you DON'T want Michael Jordan on your team since he kick our ass everytime in the finals. That's being very close minded I would think. A chance to improve the team is what come first for the franchise and winning ways will draw back fans.

The day John Stockston becomes a Rocket...is the day I stop being a Rockets fan.

I'll root for the Lakers, the Yankees, and the Dallas Cowboys. Because what's the point? Teams are just an assembly of players with the same uniform then. And if you're a fan for that reason, well, that's your right...but for me...I'm a fan of the Rockets because of the heartbreak. The victories you celebrate...but it's the heartache that makes you loyal.

Think about it, what was sweeter - the Rockets beating the Knicks...or the Rockets sweeping Orlando.

Which was sweeter - it was the first one...wasn't it because it alleviated the heartache. I guess I never understood Lakers fans. I mean, if they win, is it really that much joy?

i guess im like FriendofEarth, ive been around for awhile, but rarely post, and this one got my attention. im up in dallas and i have to suffer through all of the talk up here about how awesome the mavs are, some of which is actually true... but one thing the rockets could take note of that cuban and nellie have done (and it was mentioned earlier) is bring stockton on as a coach like JVG did with ewing. the mavs coaching staff resembles that of a football team, but the players are getting individual attention, and that has improved the play of a number of them.

    GO ROCKS

hope they pull out an OT win!

I say we bring Stockton in, then have Oakley rough him up in practice. Hey, they could probably hold that practice at the Toyota Center and get a sellout.

I still think we have a shot at convincing Bill Russel to come out of retirement.....JVG was trying to call Wilt, but it appears that he doesn't answer his phone anymore......

Moses Malone or Moses from the Old Testament? I wouldn't be suprised if JVG signed the latter to a ten day contract...
