    JOHN STOCKTON?????

What about John Stockton coaching the rockets next year? Steve hasn't developed much since his rookie year. I know we hate the Utah but this guy has played many years, perserved his body well. Can teach Steve how to see the floor. Worked for Jerry Sloan who is a great coach. Has high character points and will bring toughness and is very heady. Also add John Thompson from Georgetown as a assistant. To help tutor our big men, he has developed Patrick Ewing, Alonzo, Dikembe, Othello, and a few others. I would like you guys opinion.

You broke the two cardinal rules:

    1) You made a thread title in all caps

    2) You suggested we bring someone from the Jazz in to be part of our organization

You get 5 ...count 'em ....5!!!! of these:

You must have a very cool job...I mean, being able to roll into work stoned and drunk must really help your job performance.

It would never happen, but if Francis would listen to Stockton he would become the best PG in the league, no doubt. It is a solid idea, longtime Jazz player or not - Stockton is probably one of the smartest players in league history, Francis' game is suggests the opposite.

    Would never happen, though.

It'd be funny that the Rockets would get booed every home game because John Stockton was on their bench.

I think Othello could really help the Rockets. He's an intelligent player who supposedly has a good kind of nasty streak. Just what we need, actually. And I hear he needs a change of scenery.

Othello Harrington. He was a player for the Rockets for a years before he got traded to I believe the New York Knicks. He too was a rookie that showed alot of promise in his game, but just never developed into what the Rockets were aspiring him to be. I believe when we traded Othello, we received Kenny Thomas the same year. Anyhow, the guy is a solid player, but not superstar caliber.

While everyone of these Rockets fans are booing the idea of having a former Jazz player on the same court, I like the idea. The Jazz are far from our enemies right now. I think the Mav's are the team the Rockets are gunning for right now. It's been a few years since they eliminated us out of getting into the finals for a 3rd straight year. Anyhow, Stockton is a hell of a player. There are very few starting 40 year olds who produce the way he can. Jordan wasn't even intended to be a starter this year til he pretty much forced it on the team. And that says alot about Stocktons health and credibility. considering Jordan has had a few year breaks in his career. Stocktons has played in year in and year out and kept his teammates playoff bound with pretty much a bunch of scrubs minus Malone. I still wouldn't like to see Rudy get fired, but if it were to happen and it were possible to get Stockton, I say go for it.

Sorry, but it would be a waste of time for Stockton.

The Stockton as Assistant Coach idea falls under the "keeps your friends close but your enemies closer" rationale.

Stockton won't retire until Malone does, and Malone wants to be the record holder for total points scored, so we won't see this duo done until the end of next year.

Stockton could make another fortune conducting a point guard clinic the way Pete Newell did for big men. I don't care how much you dislike the Jazz and Stockton in particular, you must give the devil his due. Stockton knows how to read defenses, pass to the most open man, position himself for a flop, stop and pop (thanks, Calvin), provide leadership and perform every task required of a point guard. Our point guards could learn a lot.

You know what? This is a great idea!!! You guys hate him because he's insanely smart and has great acting skills, but what if he can teaches those skills to the Rockets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With their pure talent and IQ, they will be unstoppable.

Sometimes I wonder. If the Rockets start to flop all over the place, get away with it, and help us win games... how many people would still be disgusted?

Quit with the "I hate Jazz B.S." That was so 20th century. :D

If Stockton was even a consultant for the Rockets, you'd see an all-NBA Steve Francis.
