The news I heard is that he had a major heart attack on the set of 8 rules. Very sad news. I grew up with Three's Company and my son loves Clifford. +RIP John+
Terrible day! The world is a less funny place without John Ritter's presence. I don't feel like working today now? Can I go home? John will always live within each of us as "Jack". I didn't watch any of his newer show but I'm sure his comedic talent helped make that show as well. Lord only knows how that show continues without him? John also made a really funny movie about the trials and tribulations of a man addicted to sex in a movie called "Skin Deep". He was perfect for that part. He also made another movie about an actor playing a hero becoming a hero in "Hero at Large". I will never forget him and his impact on both tv and film. Hope Heaven gets as much pleasure from John as we did here on Earth! Rest in peace, John Ritter. Surf
From MSNBC.com - doesn't sound like a heart attack. RITTER BECAME ILL Thursday while working on ABC’s “8 Simple Rules ... For Dating My Teenage Daughter,” the hit show that became the actor’s big television comeback, said Susan Wilcox, his assistant of 22 years. The cause of his death was a tear in the aorta, the result of an unrecognized flaw in his heart, said his publicist, Lisa Kasteler. He died at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday.
I read about it this morning. I was honestly hoping that this was just some sort of misunderstanding between Mr. Furley and Jack.
Unbelievable! One of the most underrated physical comics around. I've always admired that guy. Three's Company was my favorite shows growing up and I still know every single episode. I watched 8 Rules just because I was excited about his return to the sitcom world. Skin Deep was one of the funniest movies I've seen. R2K, you're right. The 'condom' scene is priceless. I also liked when he came out of the hospital after getting shock treatment. I used to play that scene over and over again. Great physical comedy. RIP
Man this is a shock, and sad! Ritter was one of my favorite actors of all time. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy who was having a good time, and he was a master of comedy. What a loss. He was basically our generation's Dick Van Dyke. The eery thing was that 8 Simple Rules was hitting it big and then a heart problem kills off the star and father played by an actor making a comeback. That's the SAME situation with the Royal Family that was also hitting it big during Redd Foxx's big comeback and he had a heartattack on the set. Just a horrible loss. I seriously haven't felt this bad since Charles Schultz, another idol of mine, passed away. *Sigh*. And you have to feel for the cast to, not only did they lose a friend they're probably out of a job to. Unreal.
I grew up on 3's Company. He earned my respect in Sling Blade. I was looking forward to some juicier dramatic roles for him. This sucks! +
I am too young to remember Three's Company, but loved him in the Problem Child movies and Stay Tuned, classic stuff. The man will be missed. +
