This guy is a stud. Hes 6'9 and can handle the ball as well as play good/great defense. Id like to see the rockets get this guy...even over battier. Hes got more potential, upside, and altheticism. If we got him hed be the perfect insurance if shandon leaves. He plays the 2,3. And even if shandon does not leave then this guy would be a perfect back-up to cuttino/shadon at the 2,3. I say we pick Joe Johnson out of Arkansas ------------------
I'm huge Arkansas fan therefore I have seen Joe Johnson play alot of basketball over the last two years. He is a stud, when he's on, but when he's off, as in much of this season, he's not very good at all. I'd be surprised to see him declare this year especially since he had an off season. Plus he's said that he wants to bring a championship to Arkansas before he leaves, and they will be loaded next year. At his postion, most likely the SF, I would rank him behing both Battier and White and probably a little ahead of Jefferson. ------------------
id still drool over a guy 6'9 who plays good defense and has a point guards ball handling skills and runs the floor. Hed fit in with the rockets play ------------------
I agree with you man, but he has shown sometimes this year that his ball handling can get silly... Thats why I just think he needs another year, but if he does go, I would like to see the Rockets get him, A good established team, in the same time zone as me LOL theirfore allowing me to watch him Shock THE NBA... Cause that's what he will do once he decides it's his time ------------------
Wow! if he shoots 3s like that i would defintely take him probably with 2nd or 3rd first round pick ------------------
College 3 is shorter than NBA 3, and the defenses will give up that shot more. ------------------ "Of course, thats just my opinion, I could be wrong" -- Dennis Miller
I expect him to rise like crazy if he has good workouts, similar to Jamal Crawford. If he's available with our Bucks pick, he'd be an absolute steal, but I don't expect him to be there. It's worth noting, that Johnson shot 45% while not shooting a huge volume. He put up only 79 attempts (30 games). Compare that with Shane Battier's 296 attempts (42%), or Jason Williams' 309 attempts (43%) both in 39 games. Rodney White (35%) managed to put up 95 attempts in 2 less games. Even PF prospect Troy Murphy put up 9 more attempts in the same amount of games. I'm not convinced he's a great shooter yet, though certainly not awful like one Gerald Wallace. I didn't get to see him much, so I'm not totally sure either way. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
with Shandon possibly leaving, lack of a solid sf, and the new zone; joe johnson is our guy ------------------
Does anyone know if Johnson has declared officially yet, and if not -- when is the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NBA Draft? ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
May 13th, Clutch. May 20th, is when we'll know about our top 3 pick. ------------------ women love me, fish fear me.
More good news (for making this draft one player deeper)... Johnson just declared for the draft. Johnson says goodbye to Arkansas FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas forward Joe Johnson announced Thursday he was entering the National Basketball Association draft. "At this time, I merely want to gather information prior to making a final decision," Johnson, a sophomore, said. "I have had a great experience so far at the University of Arkansas and simply feel that it is in my best interest to gather as much information as I can about my future." Johnson won't sign with an agent and can withdraw until June 20 without losing his college eligibility. The 6-foot-8 Johnson, a forward-guard, led the Razorbacks this season with 14.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. He was a Wooden Award and Naismith Player of the Year candidate. Johnson earned All-Southeastern Conference honors. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
As most people know I live in Arkansas, as stated by my signature. Even though he would probably help the Rockets dearly if they got him, I would like to see hime stay to help out UA because they will be stacked next year and to further his playing abilities. I also remember saying that Corliss Williamson should have stayed one more year because he went from a top 3 pick in the 94 draft to being drafted 13 in the 95 draft and he had a year of eligibility left as did Scotty Thurman, who was a hot shot, three point shooting machine and he didn't even get drafted. A year can make a difference. ------------------ Arkansas' Biggest Rocket Fan!
Yep he declared... Hasnt signed with an agent yet and is still going to class and stuff to stay eligible but this guy is not coming back Oh well, He gave us some great well 2 years LOL... I wish him all the Success in the world and if you get him Houston look out.. He has all the making's of a star, Just needs the right coaching and stuff ------------------
Now I'm starting to feel much better about this draft! HELL YEAH! Time to start saying a little prayer, hoping that Joe is wearing a Rocks jersey come October. "#20 or #25, Joe?" ------------------
bring on the Pig Sooooey ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
Corliss went from a top three pick one year to barely making it as a lottery pick the next year. I was saying that a year can make a difference. ------------------ Arkansas' Biggest Rocket Fan!
But you realize that a year can make a bad difference, right? Your previous post sounds as if you think loosing draft position is a good thing. ------------------ women love me, fish fear me.
