Well, barring a miracle change of heart from ex-RM95's Girl, I'm about 99.9% sure I'm moving to Houston at the end of August. So, I'll be in need of a second job. While I'd prefer it to be at a law firm, I'll take any kind of office job. Anyone got any suggestions or leads? Since I'll be buying Rockets' season tickets, if anyone here leads me to a job, they'll receive a free ticket. Thanks!
First off, post your resume at www.monster.com. Second off, check the non-profits: www.mdanderson.org www.houstonisd.org The Sunday Chronicle is hit and miss for jobs. You might find some cooler jobs in the Houston Press.
Is Monster really good for part-time jobs, though? I'm looking for like 20 hours a week or so (probably should've put that in the original post, huh?).
Try the Wilhemmina Modeling Agency (sp?) I was on the verge of going to an interview there before getting my present job. They're looking for tons of "talent scouts." I just think it would be a great pick up line to use on women... "Hey baby, wanna be a model? I can make it happen. Here's my card... gimme a call and we can get together and discuss your future!" However I don't know how legit the deal is, so enter with a watchful eye.
Thanks. I've got three attorneys in Austin who would recommend me to anyone, so I'm hoping they have some contacts in Houston. Gardere, where I'm working now, also has an office there, although I have no idea how big it is.
i have like 5 cases against Gardere right now!!! a couple with the firm in Dallas!!! i didn't know you worked for Gardere!!! that's soooo funny!
I guess I should have read your post a little more carefully RM95. I'm working for a consulting firm/law firm right now (they do both). I'll see if they're looking for anyone. If you e-mail me your resume through the BBS, I can hand it to them.
Thanks man! I'll do that when I get home. Actually, is that possible? I'll send you an e-mail, then you can e-mail me back, then I should be able to attach a document.
My intern will be leaving at the end of August. I doubt you'd be interested in the position unless you enjoy working *very* long hours for below market wages.
I don't know if they have a lot of part time job listings, but try careerbuilder.com or houstonemployment.com.
monster.com SUCKS!! Ive submitted close to 100+ resumes on that stupid job site and have maybe received 2-3 calls from it since I graduated 4 years ago. Chronicle classifieds is the best way to go dude. Are you thinking about UofH law? Good luck! And for God's sake get 1/2 season with the $30 tickets and then go watch the other 1/2 at Little Woodrow's. If we learned anything this past weekend, its that Houston women are easy to hit on/get numbers.
Definitely thinking UH Law, which, before last weekend, was one of the main reasons for wanting to move back to Houston. Yeah, I'm definitely going to do the half-season package.
