This dude does not deserve to start. He's probably the worst starter in the entire league. It annoys me that he's only starting because he is Lebron's buddy. Cavs are kissing ass to keep Lebron but ultimately they will lose him because of the win-loss column.

Just about the only good thing about him is that he knows his limitations so he does not take any risky shots. he shoots 64% from the line, asst/to ratio of 0.2/1.3, half a steal and half a block. 3.9 rebounds a game is paltry.

If not for the easy buckets Lebron sets up for him, I don't think his FG% would be that high anyway.

Not a good defender by any stretch of the imagination. Got eaten up by Taj Gibson, Lamarcus Aldridge, Carl Landry, Zach Randolph and (wait for it) Juwan Howard.

I hate this kind of behavior from an organization. I guess we're spoiled because we don't cater to anyone's bull**** as an organization. Maybe we haven't had a clique mentality since Cuttino and Francis - but those guys were the only two decent players we had.

I'm just saying. Playing Hickson seems to me like a direct result of kissass. Kissass leads to losses. If Lebron leaves, it will be because he remembered every single loss and none of the kissass.

Hickson is starting because, with Shaq in the middle, they Cavs want a more mobile, athletic PF.

Don't forget about the big contract they gave to Daniel Gibson.

hickson is more efficient at finishing around the basket and he's a much better mid-range shooter than varejao.

playing hickson with shaq and lebron is the right thing to do. but it also shows you that the cavs really aren't that good...

I remember him trying to shoot through Battier and Ariza at the same time

Really? Is that why he's made only 11 shots not right under the basket, 3 of which were from the FT line area?

It's all fluff. He is athletic, that's all. He's not good at doing anything else. He is the worst starter in the league IMO. His mobility is useless potential.

Varejao is mobile. Probably better at everything but mid range jumpers - where he has made 3 less shots than JJ Hickson all season.

It's just silly to me. It's just for Lebron.

As I remember it, before Hickson started the Cavs were struggling offensively. Since he was inserted, they've played much better. Maybe LeBron has something to do with it, but I think they just like that combination more.

LeBron loves Varejao and wanted him resigned, so I doubt the Cavs are starting Hickson because of LeBron. They just want Varejao as a spark plug.

what's your problem? i never said he's a great mid-range shooter. i said he's more efficient around the basket and a BETTER mid-range shooter than varejao. and that's all backed up by the stats.

he's finishing pretty good under the basket so his athleticism and mobility is not just useless potential. but i agree, he's one of the worst starters in the league. but i've already said that in my first post...

imho, playing hickson with lebron and shaq is a good idea. plus, varejao and ilgauskas fit together, too.

    so, where's the problem?

I take it back. I was extremely wrong to rip on him so hard when he was so young. He was misused and/or has developed well. He's playing well these days even averaging a double-double so far for the Blazers. Last season was very good too.

I had a flashback of ripping on him on the BBS and after stumbling onto his stats, thought I'd make it right.
