Well, yea thats how Kevin Smith wanted to promote it. At first, when JLo came on board, the Weinstein Brothers over at Miramax told Smith to make this a Ben/Jen movie as much as possible for the publicity. But when Gigli came out, they gave Smith control on whatever he wanted to do in which he wanted to promote the movie as a Ben Affleck/Raquel Castro/George Carlin movie. As you can see in the trailer that came out in theaters, there was no J Lo, but the Showest trailer that leaked to the net last year had her in plenty of scenes includeing the "fake" scenes with her grown up daughter. After the whole debacle with Bennifer, the public pretty much knew she was going to die in the first 15 mins, so JLo wasnt really needed for all the publicity. As for the whole "I hate Affleck" confrontation, I too do not think he is a bad guy at all. He really seems to be a cool person and is even a geek, witness by his interview with The Screen Savers last week. I guess its the whole "typecast" roles he played and everybody just started to hate him. I followed him early on since Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and even Dazed and Confused in which I was hoping he would be where he is today, and not someone like Tom Arnold who is only good for supporting roles. I was the only one that supported him last year when everybody bashed him here on the BBS when Daredevil came out, and but I was being bashed for it. Glad to see others that agree with me.
