I wouldn't mind seeing him packaged with our 14th pick, to move up a couple of spots to draft Greg Monroe! And we could easily replace him with a second round pick this year; 2nd rounders Lance Stephenson, Terrico White, Willie Warren....would all be better prospect than Jermaine Taylor IMO --RB
Von Wafer V.2. Played solid in the last few games this year. His outing against Kobe was noteworthy. Guy is still very raw but has plenty of talent.
except von wafer could shoot the hell out of the ball. taylor's jumper looks very weird because he winds up like marcus camby.
He's going to be Von Wafer 2.0 but with defense. I think this kid has a bright future in the league. Maybe not as a starter but as a scorer and maybe at some point defensive stopper off the bench. I agree that he probably doesn't have the mentality/court vision to be part of a motion offense. He's the guy you bring in off the bench with you need a bull that will put his head down, go the rim and get you some and-1s.
Concur. Add to that he can't shoot or dribble with his left hand, which makes him easy to guard. My prediction for him : trade fodder or 15th man on the Rockets' roster - a Viper in the Valley. I'm hoping he gains proficiency with his left hand, but that still leaves him with the basketball IQ of Stromile Swift.
big Big ego? Lol. He was used to be the only offensive player on his team last year..give him some time to get comfortable and find his role with the team.
Von's form is hardly traditional.. It took him a while to be able to consistently shoot the rock. Jermaine just needs time before he can develop into a role player.
I don't think he's played enough minutes to be able to determine whether or not he has a future. He had some nice flashes, and made some mistakes. Unless another team targets him in a trade, I think he deserves a spot at the end of the bench. He's gonna need some minutes to improve.
Instead of Sending Taylor, Hill and Bud and maybe the rookie we drafted to summer league, maybe the rockets should take out Bud and let him work out on his own, cause he has proven he can be a rotation player. By Bud playing there, he is just going to take away touches from Taylor. I would rather them just give Taylor the green light and see what we can do as the go to guy there.
I think Jermaine can become anything from a star player, like a poor man's Wade, to being out of the league. He has a lot of work to do but it seems like he has a good work ethic from what I've seen. There's a lot of things that can potentially derail him from becoming a star, but he also has a lot of tools that most players don't have, namely his athleticism and scoring instincts. If I had to guess, I'd say he'll become a bigger Mike James. Which isn't all that bad.
He appears to have a pretty high ceiling, with very little risk on the Rockets part. He really needs to get more consistent with his shot if he wants to hang around. He's shown a good ability to get to the basket, flashes of great defensive potential, and he's very athletic, plus he's not undersized. Again all of this is potential, he doesn't make much money so there is little risk of keeping him around to see what happens. High- Great NBA Starter, borderline all star Low- Ball hog that never learns how to play. Out of the league in 2 years My guess- Solid rotation player
