I'm pretty no one was criticizing Lebron, Westbrook, or Francis for their shortcomings 10 games into their careers. If Lin is still averaging 6 turnovers a game a few years from now - or even by the end of this year - he'll be criticized too. There's no double standard.
He is playing a lot more patient and not trying to force things, this is absolutely excellent for the knicks as a team. Imagine teams trapping him like that and him just making the easy pass and getting melo and stoudemire on the weakside wow...
I have not seem so many double teams on a point guard in a game in a while... Can anybody remind me the last time this has happened to a PG? (Legit question)
Having scorers like JR and Melo back would do wonders for Lin. It will loosen up the defense tremendously. Right now, teams are trapping Lin like crazy. Imagine every time you get the ball and two players pressure you. You don't see defense like this until the playoffs. For Lin, it's almost every game teams are trapping him beyond the arc. That's huge respect from the league.
