I pointed out the 3pt% because Mike Bibby was a good contributor last season to the Heat, hence he is a qualified veteran who has some use. Lin is obviously better at running the point, this was in response to Spooner's post to Carl Herrara's stat.
What does this have to do with anything? Stay on topic Carl pointed out that the Knicks had a much more efficient offense with Lin, and you discredited Lin by saying he is the only PG on the team And we all know he is not the only PG on the team and not the only PG getting minutes.
Bibby has shot 275% from 3 this year. He has been of very little contribution(to put it nicely) to the Knicks this year. He has done next to nothing. I found it odd that someone would even make a remark that while Lin is out of the game there is literally a fraction of a negative difference in terms of turnovers. What that person fails to realize is that highlighting the minimal difference between having a point guard on the floor and not having one at all in this way, certainly doesn't help his case in the least. One would reasonably assuming that by having a point guard on the floor, there would be less turnovers than without one. How does that have anything to do with a washed up shooter?
You are not reading correctly. The difference between having a point guard on the floor(.15) and not having a point guard on the floor(.16) Does not bode well for the point guard.
What it sounds like is you can't interpret simple logic. First of all this is what you said This is the premise of the argument, so I don't even know why you are arguing Bibby's contribution when it has no relationship to what you are trying to support. Is Bibby playing for the Knicks? Yes. Is Bibby getting minutes? Yes. Is Bibby a PG? Yes. And second of all follow this simple logic. Knicks with Lin = More efficient Knicks without Lin = Less efficient. Therefore, Lin is helping the Knicks.
sigh..... Someone made the claim that while Lin is on the floor there are less turnovers. All I'm trying to say is that when you take in the fact that the Knicks only have one point guard, the difference is so miniscule that it's almost as if the Knicks are turning the ball over equally as much without a point guard in the game. As teams without a point guard on the floor have a greater chance at turnovers, it in essence means the point guard turns the ball over a lot when he is played, which is already in the freaking box score. I'm not saying Lin isn't a solid option at point guard. I'm just stating that what CH to me wrote, does not help Jeremy's case in regards to turnovers.
The Knicks technically have three pgs if you count Bibby and Douglas but Douglas hasn't really been playing at all since Lin took over and Bibby has been doing something that I guess you can call playing. He's averaging about 10 minutes a game and during that stretch he has managed to go 1-15 with 1 assist. Bibby is no longer a player worth giving minutes to. The Knicks really do only have one person that is capable of running the point and that is Lin.
Perhaps we have a different opinion on what exactly Bibby does. From what I have seen this year, he does not initiate the offense. He looks like a shooting guard. He rarely ever even gets an assist or a turnover for that matter, which puts that burden on the rest of the team. He just doesn't look like a point guard at all. A couple years ago? Yes. Now? No. If that is nitpicking, fine. This is just the way I see it.
Yes Lin has lots of turnovers. This is his second year, first time playing significant minutes. Turnovers can be fixed with practice and he'll get better. Period. Now let the Linsanity continue.
it proves that lin is better than bibby at running the point now. that doesn't mean much. bibby is washed up. knicks seriously need a backup PG that can compete with lin for some minutes. or lin's turnover is going to hurt them sooner or later when melo comes back and lin's scoring isn't needed as much.
I don't know why people are going nuts over his turnovers? Steve Nash led the league in turnovers per game under D'Antoni because he'd have to make a lot of decisions and create plays for other people. Jeremy Lin is doing the same thing. He has the ball in his hands a lot and he's the facilitator who has to look for ways to get the ball moving in order for D'Antoni's offense to be effective. I don't care how many times he turns the ball over, as long as he's attacking the basket and constantly trying to get everyone involved. Because last time I checked that's exactly what Steve Nash did under D'Antoni in his 2 mvp seasons and the other seasons he played under him.
Nash in his first mvp year had an assist to turnover ratio of 3.5 which is about twice what Lin is doing right. It is just ridiculous to compare Nash's turnovers to Lin's at this point. Lin is playing great but turnovers are a problem and it should have cost them the raptors and wolves games.
Is there a way to find that out or did you count? Also I'd be willing to bet a vast majority of those are me responding to things people said to me. It's rude not to answer back.
