Better get on that waiting list library boys. http://www.click2houston.com/news/4190869/detail.html p*rn Star's Book Returns To Houston Library Shelves ACLU Threatened To Sue Over Book's Removal HOUSTON -- City of Houston library officials reversed a decision Friday and returned a book by a p*rn star to the shelves of public libraries, Local 2 reported Friday. "How To Make Love Like A p*rn Star: A Cautionary Tale" By Jenna Jameson "How To Make Love Like A p*rn Star: A Cautionary Tale" was pulled earlier this month amid protests to council members. The best-selling book is an autobiography by Jenna Jameson, an adult film star. It contains a few nude photos of Jameson. At the mayor's request, the book was placed in the library's closed stacks and only made available by request. "If you've seen the pictures in the book, you'll know what we're talking about. You wouldn't show them on your television station, so he was trying to balance those community concerns with the interest of people who want to have access to the book," said Frank Michel, Mayor Bill White's spokesman. Earlier this week, the Houston chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union sent a letter to the city saying the book's removal violated the First Amendment's free speech guarantee. The ACLU said the decision to remove the book also violated due process. "This book has a lot of literary merit. This is about the biography of a woman in a certain industry, it is the p*rn industry, and it is not a pornographic book by any standards," said Randall Kallinen, the president of the Houston ACLU. A city library committee reviewed the book and ruled against the mayor, saying the book should be returned to the open shelves in the Fine Arts section. The book was ordered and displayed through an automatic library system. The library committee has recommended the library be more selective in its book orders and displays. As of Friday afternoon, all of the copies of the book were checked out and there was a 40-person waiting list.
Thank you, ACLU, for your diligence. To quote the movie Dodgeball, "the hippies finally got something right."
Clearly I spend too much time on this board, because my first thought was that you meant Jenna, the Karl Malone fan who quit posting years ago.
My wife bought this book and just got done reading it. She actually said it was a great read, so I'm gonna read it soon. I figure the more interest my wife has in p*rn the better.
Yep, my first thought was, "Wow, I thought she'd never return. I guess she finally got over our supposed mistreatment of Karla. Maybe it's all OK now that he's retired."
Although I was not here when Jenna was posting, I have heard so much about her that I, too, thought this was a thread about her returning. Like Isabel, I thought to myself, "Why would she be coming back now that her disgusting hero has retired?"
let me tell you the story. There is a 40 person waiting list for this book. It is probably going to rise after the whole thing. This all started out a month ago or so, when some old hag, or some tight ass was out at the Robinson-Westchase Library branch. I think it was that one. And this tight ass, hag was browsing through the bestsellers book, and yes, this book was there. She just looked at it, and moanded and b**** about it being there. She went to City Council and b****ed about it. Mayor White was like, oh shiznits, I better do something. The book was then sent to the closed stacks area. And people felt it doesnt deserve to be there. It's not suppose to, because that is for the older books. I've seen the book at the Library, and seen the pictures. It's tame. Just some topless photos. The best thing about it was seeing Cynthia Hunt.
