Jazz on the Downfall (published on Onhoops.com) There were a few typing errors in it (including my last name). ------------------ [This message has been edited by steviewonder (edited September 05, 2000).]
As much as we may dislike the Jazz, it's somewhat funny that we've heard those same statements year after year. Stockton's stats were supposed to go even further down this year. They went up. Malone is supposed to have collapsed years ago, and he's still doing the exact same. Marshall did not shoot 32.4%- those were his minutes per game. That stuff has been said for years about Stockton, Malone, and the Jazz. And yet they never come true. While they aren't championship contenders in my opinion, they are likely to have another very solid season and be somewhere around the 4 seed IMO. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Think how much easier it's going to be for Marshall when all he has to do is catch the ball from Stockton and put it in. And if he shoots sub40% then he just won't play. They DO have Danny Manning who can backup both forward spots if needs be - so PT for Marshall could be limited if he's going to take silly shots. The Jazz team this year is better than it was last year provided that Stockton and Malone can produce at least 90% of what they did last year - based on history I've no doubt they can. As much as we all hate the Jazz, don't look for them to fall out of the playoffs. ------------------
