Hoop-T pointed this article out in his Vinsanity thread in the NBA Forum, but I thought it deserved mentioning here. We've all know Steve Javie seems to have his mind made up about alot of people(ie. Clyde Drexler) in the NBA, but here is a new one. ...it's safe to say he(Dan Issel) won't be sending veteran referee Steve Javie a Valentine's Day card. Issel got the heave-ho from Javie -- on only one technical -- in Wednesday's loss at Milwaukee for doing little more than speaking up for one of his players. He apparently didn't even utter a single curse word. The incident began when Javie referred to Nuggets guard Nick Van Exel as "a miserable person" while discussing a disputed call near the Denver bench. "You're a miserable person," an angry Issel countered. Then in an apparent reference to critical comments Charles Barkley had made about Javie in the past, Issel added: "Barkley was right about you." Javie immediately teed up Issel and sent him to the showers. It was at least the fourth time Javie has ejected Issel over the past two seasons. Issel declined to comment on the incident after the game. ------------------ "Clinton lied. Why would a referee say that about any player? It is his job to call the game, not personally berate any player, coach or otherwise. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Wow, it's bad enough that the ref started insulting players personally during the game, but to eject a coach for defending the said player? Truly pathetic... have the refs always been this bad? us nugget fans have gone through this for awhile. you have no idea how much we dislike javie. once we realize hes coach we realize issel is gone and the game is that much harder. ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!

He didn't mutter a cuss word, OK. However, Imagine what Javie was thinking when he heard "Barkley was right about you". Ha HA. He knows Charles' way of talkin and probably imagined Issel tellin him a bunch of vulgar shtuff and insulting his mother and questioning his sexuality and all the stuff that Barkley would have done.
