That would be hard since he's been in the league for several years. Hubie is the best thing to happen to Jason.
Well he didn't want to be confused with Jayson "Man slaughter" Williams. Having a different name than Jason "White Chocolate" Williams was just a bonus.
He's turned a corner. He's a very good pg this season. Grizz were reportedly looking to unload his contract when the Pau talk was hot at the deadline. Maybe not anymore. He needs to do it another season to wash off the bad rep from his Sac days.
Last five games: 64 assists and 7 turnovers! Third in the NBA in assists per game and 2nd in assist/TO ratio. If he didn't attempt so many dumb three pointers, he might be considered one of the best point guards in the NBA...
The kid is really maturing. Against Lakers today, 18 pts on 7/17 shooting, 12 asts, 3 stls and only 1 to so far!!! 12/1 asts/to ratio!!!
Will people be as patient with Francis as they are with this Jason Williams? How long Jason been in the league? How long has stevie? I wonder why the impatience with Francis? The saying he will never be a great PG and should be moved to SG? Why is that? I remember people saying Jason didn't have the smarts too. Rocket River
The difference is that Jason WIlliams could always make good passes. Sometimes he would just try to make passes that were TOO great...or too flashy, as it were. Plus, he took a lot of ill advised shots (still does, to a lesser degree). Francis is a decent passer, but he has never exhibited the kind of passing skills that Jason Williams has shown throughout his career. Still, like someone else said in this thread, he will need to do it for longer than ~1 season before I believe that he has finally matured as a player.
I agree. Jason Williams even when he's immature in the Kings was always a natural PG talent. He always saw and read the court and passed well (major PG skills). What he does right now is just cut down the turnovers and take less ill-advised shots which make him a more effective and better player. Steve Francis on the other hand has always shown that he drives and shoots the ball well (SG skills) but doesn't read the game and distribute the ball well (PG skills). I could see him when he becomes more mature and smarter cut down turnovers and take less ill-advised shots but I couldn't see him suddenly develop those PG skills mentioned above. These 2 cannot be compared.
