I like where this debate is going. I was trying to say that since there is all the talk about Nash as MVP, there should be a some mension of Kidd, too. I think that VC and RJ are good, but I started this thread cause I watched some NJ games lately and easy buckets Kidd creates for teamates are as often as Nash's and that is a huge factor for winning. I mean Nash and Kidd could make a guy like Josh Childress or Josh Smith 20 ppg guys at any given time. Put Kidd on Hawks and make Johnson a 2 and you gut a new playoff team in the East.
I agree that if Nash is getting an MVP nod, Kidd deserves it too. The Nets have an outside shot at getting the second best record in the East (3rd as it is) and a better record than Phoenix. Kidd is a better all-around player, as stated in this thread, than Nash. Kind of makes you wish we could have Kidd on the Rox now...remember all that 'Trade for Kidd' talk in the offseason?
I was trying to be sacarstic to the people who voted for TD that year. And tinman, regular season is exactly what we are discussing here, so whether Kidd is unclutch or not in the playoff has nothing to do with this thread. Try again.
i just hate that a guy who makes rafer alston look like michael jordan on the defensive end (ATTROCIOUS defense) can get so much consideration for a second consecutive mvp...yeah, he does some amazing things on the offensive side, but the game is played on both ends nash is a great player, but does not belong in any conversation about the all-time greats...hes only had two real exceptional seasons, and hes only played on side of the court his whole career
I'd put Kidd ahead of Nash when all is said and done. Payton ahead of both of them and Magic no.1 all time. Kidd was robbed of MVP in '02.
