Figured I'd start a thread. Starting Friday against Tampa Bay, Paredes sent down.

    Pretty exciting stuff.

Very exciting. This will be fun no matter what. I don't really care if he needs time to adjust, I just want to see the kid's stuff against ML talent.

Read an interesting interview a while ago, said his focus coming into this year was to improve control of his off-speed pitches. He was quite happy with the progress and results, but the downside was that his fastball control suffered. Whether that's mental or mechanical I have no idea. Take it for what it's worth, but it might explain some of his issues so far this year.

Worst case scenario, barring injury, is that he's a solid back of the pen guy in a couple of years, right about when the Stros might actually need to save a game or 90.

Weren't we looking for a spot starter after Harrell was demoted? Do you guys think he will stay (has Luhnow mentioned anything)? He has been having control problems lately. I also would have expected them to call up peacock for the spot start instead, but with him starting today I guess Cosart was the best choice.

All I know is I'm excited to see how he pitches. This is the beginning of the future

So it begins. I would think Cosart is here to stay unless he bombs out.

I figured we would wait until we traded one of our guys, because it doesn't seem like you want to be shuffling one of your top prospects up and down. Unless we've completely given up on Harrell or a trade is in the works we have 6 starters.

Is he starting or is it for relieving purposes?

I'll be in Corpus for Folty's start...but I will be there for Cosart's next start in Houston after this one, without a doubt.

    Who's taking Cosart's spot in OKC's rotation?

I wonder who takes Cosart's start in AAA on Friday?

Edit: Juicy beat me to the friendly ribbing.

IDK, I asked Brian Smith via Twitter, but no response. Highly doubt it will be Folty, given that Cosart may be temporary, and how the team has been dealing with these situations.

More likely that they'll call someone from a lower level again like they did with Rodgers/Hallock earlier this season or use guys that were part of the tandem system, but now in the bullpen.

Well pretty soon it's going to be fun because we will go from watching just plain crap to actually having hope watching guys that will hopefully be here for years to come.

Between the Texans, Rockets and Dynamo being title contenders and the Astros rebuild now in full mode this is the best I can remember the Houston sports scene being. I am so happy for the city let's just hope the CSN deal gets done asap.

Best period of Houston sports all at once (IMO) was Fall/Winter 1993...Rockets start out 15-0 and the Oilers ran off a bunch of wins to close the season, including a Christmas Day win at San Francisco. At the same time, the Astros had just started putting it all together and you could see what they were capable of becoming.

But I'm with you...a lot of reason to be excited about our teams going forward right now.

David Martinez may be a candidate to move up to AAA. Honestly, I'd be fine with them waiving someone like Humber and letting Martinez stay in AAA full time. He may not be a sexy prospect, but he doesn't have anything left to prove in AA.

Oh yeah that was a great time both the Oilers and Rockets had title contenders and the Astros already had all of the core young guys up.

They aren't ignoring him. Luhnow even stated today to expect more ML debuts over the summer.
