Just seems to be bad police tactic. The officer had 4 other cops with him. Was it the best approach to just go tackle a suspect rather than identifying yourselves first?

"of the type I experienced occur all too frequently"?

    What, just mistaken identity?

It looks like that was one bad mistake by one cop. I wonder what communities have those happen all too frequently. He just probably fit a description to someone they were trying to find.

He was obviously agitated and uncooperative.

Being assaulted by police for no reason.

Even if he was the guy they were looking for, there was no reason to tackle someone who was not resisting in any way.

Yikes. If I get tackled by a guy in a white t shirt and jeans, no matter what he's yelling he's going to get clocked.

That's a good way to get some easy money. I'd take it for a wad of cash.

Yeah, just weird how there so many mistakes resulting in excessive force right? So strange. But it's ok - a few bad apples. Cops will be cops!

That suspect did look like his twin, but the NYPD is off their ******* rocker going after cell phone scammers like that.

Yeah I was thinking about it from a self defense perspective the whole time. I don't know how I would have reacted, but I train jiujitsu 4+ days a week so I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have just let someone take me down and throw me on my back. Would that have got me killed?

Also I was thinking how easy it would be for someone to run up on you and say they were the cops and do whatever to you.

I hope they do get sued. Just a dangerous situation over such a suspected petty crime.

Well, unless they were gunners and he forgot to call a fair catch, their tactics clearly aggravated the mistake.

Apparently the suspect who looks like his twin was just a random picture off Instagram. Good job, detectives.

Excessive force, not following protocol and unprofessional behavior...

but in their defense, the resemblance is uncanny:

Oh...actually the look-alike had no role in the scheme:
