He was waived by the Bobcats today because Bernie didn't like his work ethic. This guy could rebound very well (5.3 in 14.3 minutes). He is the nephew of former rocket Ralph Sampson and he is fairly young at 21. Maybe JVG can get this guy to play to his full potential and he could be a big body next to Yao.
I'd take a chance - cut Barret (hustles but his handles aren't NBA-level) and sign this guy to a 10-day. I really liked his size and how he rebounded when the Bobcats whipped us.
Yeah but he would really have to change his attitude if he does have a bad work ethic. Maybe it had to do with playing time, but i just don't see him getting any playing time here either then starting to have his bad work ethic again and just be dumped.
The last thing we want is to bring in a scrub that is waived by Bobcats to screw up our chemistry. If it's Jammal Crowford, hell Yeah.
Hell yeah, bring in Jammal Crowford - I hear he's some big name player somewhere??? He's a 7'2 PF with an outside shot isn't he? Sampson is a decent prospect - what have we got to lose? He wasn't cut from the Bobcats because of a lack of talent - maybe a different environment would suit him better? I know he was a backup PF there - but I'd also acknowledge that Okafur is far superior than any of our PF's!
If I remember correctly he had a pretty good game against us the first time we got beat by the bobcats. I would give him a 10 day contract and see what he can do for us. If not then oh well it was worth a shot
And there is nothing wrong with that. This isn't a charity - if you don't want to work or win, I don't want you on the team either!
