I just plugged my iPod into my computer to update some new songs onto it. So, when it said it was done, all the songs on my iPod were gone. And none of the songs on my iTunes will play. Did I loose all my songs somehow? Can I get the back? Has anyone experienced this before?

You have to set your Itunes software to manually update your songs.

This happened to me before, and I lost all my tunes. It was a big hassle since I had to transfer all the songs once again. It was set on default to automatically update your songs.

But this was when I first got the Ipod, so I didnt have more than 10 albums at the time.

I think your songs got deleted b/c the computer you connected it to didn't have your existing Ipod tracks on the computer hard drive.

(I'm not 100% sure this is the exact explanation, but this is what I can remember from when it happened to me about 2 years ago)

Posters who hate Rockets players deserve losing all of their songs.

iPods sync now, they don't update. So, if your iTunes doesn't have the music you want, then don't sync it.

Basically, the idea is simple. If you like what you see within iTunes, sync it, but it will erase any content that is not the same.

iTunes and problems go hand in hand.

None of the songs on my iTunes will even play anymore and when I plug in my iPod, it says that my playlists are gone so they cannot be downloaded.

Can you find the files anywhere on your computer? The files may have moved and they just need to be re-connected. iTunes is a pretty simple program, I bet we can figure out what's going on.

Can you do a software update of the version you have right now? They're at 7.1.x right now with the iPhone and all.

Also, are these songs that were downloaded from iTunes? You may need to reauthorize them again if they were downloaded from there.

    How about this:

-where did you get the songs from (CD, download from 3rd party, iTunes) [*note: downloaded off of limewire=3rd part]

-are the actual files anywhere on your computer

-do the songs show up on your iTunes (under music, not playlist)

-do you see any of your playlists you are trying to sync?

-which iPod do you have (the size in GB), which songs/playlists are you trying to access?

-when was the last time you synced the iPod?

What is specifically says is "songs on the iPod cannot be updated because of all the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist"

Some from cds, but from iTunes for the most part

The files are stil under "my music" when I got to "my documents"

yes, now they play, they didnt yesterday

I just have the default playlists that come on the iPod and I can see the songs, they just wont play

    Its a 2GB nano
