No star and negative star isn't possible. Damn. I knew I shouldn't have just assumed you would be right up front at the cash register!
Team is too good to tank. There is some hope. I've thought about it. Battier maybe he goes else where next season then maybe we trade Scola and Martin along the way. These guys are provinding the team with veteran leadership, once that goes we will be the Kings without Evans, Cousins, or the T'wolves without Love, Beasley. Pretty much we'll suck. How is the 2012 draft class coming along?
we will suck for the next 5 years, at least. we arent tanking so we're not going to get any talent from the draft. no big time star wants to come to houston either. so we're stuck in mediocre status until morey MAYBE hits the jackpot in a trade.... which is very unlikely to happen. seriously.... what big time stud/star is even remotely attainable? none. i saw the rockets sucking for a long time ever since tmac/yao first got seriously injured.
No, Because.... 1. 3 games out of playoffs with 43 games to go = we are not completely out of playoffs race. We can actually still go 6th,7th, & 8th easily if we some sort of rhythm going. 2. May be we will get a good trade for us before deadline. There will be approx. 24 games after trade deadline so and out schedule is kinda easy at the end so there is a good chance we can get hot towards the end of the season. I want them to stay in the hunt till the deadline. 3. Brooks has been out for the most part of the season. We really got good chemistry going but then we lost Hayes. Martin and Hayes should be soon.. Brooks is already back... I think with everyone healthy (except Yao), we have a chance to start winning more games. Bottom line: Wait till trade deadline at least before bombing.
yeah, until next game when they win, then it's not time to tank....well until they lose after that, then it's definitely time to tank...unless they win again, but then lose...hmm.
It swings fast... If we win 6 in a row, everyone will say that we are contenders. We lose 6, we are worst team in NBA. Regardless of they win 6 or lose 6, I want them to try to win every possible game they can before the trade deadline... who knows what will happen. Crazy things happen. With more than half the season to go, it's too early to make such decisions especially when we have been missing one of our top 3 players - brooks, and possibility of trade.
The difference is we match up well with San Antonio. We have more than half the season left and are just a handful of games back of the 8th spot...tanking now is quitting on the season and the fans.
No thanks. Tanking will kill the trade value of all our players and won't guarantee us a franchise player.
When was the last time the Rockets drafted an all-star? 2002. Unless you are have a top pick then forget the draft. Who was the last all-star traded to Houston? Tracy McGrady. He came from Orlando, a team in the east. This explains part of why the Rockets can't attain an all-star. Teams like to trade star players to the other conference. However, in the east they rarely do this because a star player can get you into the playoffs and sell tickets (Amare, Rose, Wade). In the west teams need to be stacked. So why did the Grizzlies trade Gasol to the Lakers? Because they wanted to blow it up and didn't expect to be contenders for several years. Gasol wasn't selling tickets getting swept in the playoffs year in year out. This creates a problem for the Rockets. Teams in the east are happy if they have a star (as long as they aren't losing 60 games) and teams in the west don't want to deal with a team in their conference that will cost them wins or a seed in the playoffs. I hope Morey is holding back because whatever he offers for Carmelo Anthony they will use that to get more from NJ/NY. All these trade talks of it going down soon shouldn't phase Morey. He should try to hold out until the dead line and present them with an offer they can't refuse. This way the Nets will look at it and say damn we can't top that without gutting our team and being in the same place we are now (or worse). The last thing they want to do is send Carmelo to Houston (he is likely to sign an extension if he is traded to us). If the trade talks get really serious Morey should step in. The truth is we have to offer more to get him and I don't mind. Timing is everything at this point. If Morey submits the offer at the right time and the deadline is near the Nuggets won't have enough time to work out a better for themselves that makes everyone happy.
