Inside the Park Baseball, the sports RPG from OOTP developments will be released today. iIt looks like an interesting concept where you take control of a player and shape his baseball career. There are all kinds of interesting aspects and from early reports the game is very original and very fun. I will be getting it sometimes today and I will post a review of it here. The website for the game should go live around 11 cst. You can access it here:

Ok I have logged a little time with the game and I can honestly say it is very different than another sports game I have played. You control your career as a player. It starts off with creating a player. Depending on your difficulty level you get a limited amount of points. After you set your initial levels you go through the draft. I chose to be a SS on Normal difficulty and was drafted #23 in the fist round by Oakland. You then set your training schedule and buy equipment, bats, gloves, shoes bat gloves and you can buy books to enhance your skills. You simulate through the game similar to the way ootp sims but you have several off the field options. You set a training schedule. You can purchase upgraded equipment in a store or through "b-Bay" auctions. You can also get drunk in a bar while drinking with different people who can enhance your career. I started off in A ball and after 5 games I was traded to Milwaukee. I played through one season there and finished with a .230 batting average but my stats had greatly increased over the course of the year. OOTP developments has launched the game website and you can see more at the website in my first post.

    Hey Castor,

I was wondering if you knew how I could buy OOTP, version 4 (the one we use). I went to the website for OOTP, but they were pimping the gaudy and flashy version 5.

    Thanks.

Yeah you just go here and download the setup file. Then install it. When you run the game it will give you the option to purchase it. BTW version 5 is now 19.95 the website has the wrong price on it.

Thanks for the link. I have downloaded, installed, and purchased.

    2 questions:

    1) How do I get the roster set to be current - meaning that the teams have the players that are playing in the majors now?

    2) How do I change the screen where the graphics are more readable? Right now I am having a hard time reading stuff.

    Thanks.

Sorry My internet has been down for 2 days. Go to www.ootpdownloadcenter and hit the links button st the topof the page. Then go to baseball sim central. They should have some files in the d/l section for ootp4 rosters. I don't know how current they are but they will be as current as possible. The only way to get them completely current its to download a set and adjust it. Even ootp 5 rosters are old(April 2003) You may also try using some of the Lahman database downloads. Check the ootp forums and someone can give you instructions on this. They should have a version for 2003 that can be loaded into version 4.

To change the screen try going to start/programs/ootp4/ and click the configuration program. Then turn off direct 3d. that should get you to am easier to see mode.

Yea, I talked to DV in chat and he told me to go do a google on "OOTP 4" and I found a couple of roster sets, downloaded what I felt was the most current. But then the next problem was using WinZip since I had rarely used it in the past. I figured it out and got the players I wanted loaded.

As for the graphics, that took longer, but I finally went back and actually did what you suggested but the opposite. I turned the 3D thing back on, and everything was perfect. As a matter of fact, I was pretty amazed at how great the graphics were.

Thanks for the link to the game, Castor - that has been my best Christmas present so far, lol.
