It was Adelman's fault. vs Bos was a great game. I think that most of player did what they can do. But I can't understand why Adelman go with small line up in 4th quater. If it was against Suns or Warriors, it might be undestandable. Celtics has many great half court player and they are half court offense team rather than run and gun. Adelman should use Scola or Hayes to defend Garnet. Instead, he used Alston, Head, Battier, Wells, and Yao. Yao needed to guard Garnet and also Rockets couldn't take a rebound after they go with this small line up. It was so stupid. Only reason that Rockets could almost beat Celtics was rebound and they gave it up in the most important minutes with small lineup. I can't like Adelman. I didn't like JVG but Adelman is worse.
I think RA was trying to use speed on the celtic hoping that we can run them out of the building. It is true that Yao and KG a mismatch, just like Yao was guarding okur last year's playoffs, instead KG is way better than OKur. Where were Yao's outside games? he used to be able to hit some jumpers, now all he got left was his inside game. Yao needs to be agressive and play active defense, instead of passive defense. did you see how KG was playing against Yao? all those grabbing, pushing and holdings? man Yao needs to learn.
2 stupid decisions: 1. he took out brooks, who was playing solid 2. he put yao on garnett. worst matchup ever rafer could guard rondo, and he would just penetrate the whole time, with 3 mins left and counting.
I've been on Adelman's case a lot but he didn't lose this game. We didn't have a closer and the Celtics did.
I dont think RA can coach and know how to use a great centre. At least JVD is doing a better job than him.
it's not Adelman's fault Yao was getting dominated by Garnett offensively and defensively, and it's not his fault we're building around a big man with glaring weaknesses.
Celtics only had a closer because the rockets had no one guarding the closer, Perkins fouling out and Adelman lost this game for us tonight I believe, Yao looked like he was in no mans land every time Garnett got those last 6 points, if scola or hayes were on the floor they would of been in Garnetts face every time. So yeah pretty much yao had no one to defend or was confused on who to defend.
I blame on: 1) KG - for being on fire in last two minutes. 2) Coach A - for not running the pick n roll in last 6 minutes after yao came back.
I agree. Yao should not be guarding jumpshooting PFs. Hayes /Scola on KG was PERFECTLY fine. And Head...Head just makes my head ache
Our problem is we played as if Yao was our closer, when in fact he isn't. If we just went with a lineup that was working, we would have improved our chances tremendously. Instead, we wasted several possessions trying to force feed the ball into Yao when he wasn't producing. You just can't be so predictable. Brooks should have finished instead of Head (or Alston), and Scola or Hayes should have finished instead of Yao.
Yao is supposedly the "best center in the NBA". he SHOULD be our closer. If we can't trust our own franchise player to be a closer then who can we trust?
Our game should be pentrate and dish to Yao and Scola at 15ft. Not Post Yao and throw to wideopen missed 3s. We were winning with the drive and score or dish to Scola.
why don't say it's murry's fault to hire him at the first place... i don't know why the hell he think huston should play like Suns or Maverick and hire AD.. out of all the recent NBA champion teams: Laker Piston Spur Heat... none of these team are "running" teams like Suns or Mavs, to who ever made such decision must an idiot. period.
Then name me a head coach elsewhere in NBA who just sat and did NOTHING and did not call timeout when the opponents ran on a 13 ~ 0 run?? That black hole in 1Q proved too big to climb out of despite the Rockets outscored the Celtics in every of the subsequent quarters. I saw some serious problems in Rick Idleman's coaching in his very little on-the-fly adjustment and some dubious rotation/substitution strategies.
The only reason I can think of with Adelman putting out the lineup he did in the last few minutes was for certain defensive matchups. Houston was going to play Alston and Wells for sure considering the good game they were playing. Yao, the franchise guy, is also a given. And since Pierce was in the game, Battier was the best candidate to hold him. So then the matchups were like this: Pierce-Battier (Pierce is probably the most dangerous weapon) Allen-Alston (A guard is needed to chase Allen through screens) Posey-Wells (This is the only other position that Bonzi can guard) Garnett-Yao (Ideally, Scola/Hayes could've been placed on Garnett, but then that would leave Yao with no one to guard) Rondo-Head (I don't understand this matchup, because Brooks was playing so well against Rajon all game) The matchups on 4 of the Celtic players were good. But that left 1 unavoidable hole in the defense that left Yao guarding a much quicker player. Garnett brought his game up to another level and then that was the game.
We need Tracy,Where is he, if he fits into our scheme right now we beat the warriors,We beat denver and We beat Boston. Our problems are blown out of proportion we just need guy's to buy into the change and we can freakin do are thang. Tracy needs to be apart of what we are doing and we can close these winnable games out.
