Not sure if this is the true definition of "irony" but .....

we got our new mini van, a 2006 Nissan Quest ...fully loaded, including a back up camera w/ sensors .......was leaving the Astros game Friday and put this monster in reverse ....beep beep beep beep ......got annoying because we couldn't really back all the way out because of traffic ...so I turned off the audible warning, but not the camera ...coast is clear and finish backing up ....BAM ...hit a concrete pole and did some moderate damage .....the ironic part is (and again, maybe ironic isn't the word I am looking for) I have never once in my life (since I've been driving) hit anything, or anyone or any object

anyone else have any good stories that involve irony?

One time I had 10,000 spoons, but all needed was a knife.

Thanks DOD, I wasn't even thinking of that till you mentioned her, I was too numb to realize that's what the spoons comment was.....unstil you mentioned her name...... :(

Technically, not ironic, but a bummer nevertheless. :)

It's liiiike hiiiiting a concrete pole in your new mini vaaaan after you turned off the warning and checked the rear camera.... ugh, yeah, that isn't ironic because it wouldn't fit in Alanis's song..........

I'd have to disagree. I think it's very ironic that the first time codell ever backed into something was when he was in the van that had the most protection against backing into something. That was the exact opposite or contrary to what should've happened given his history of driving and the features on his new automobile. :)

Well, I'm on the phone with Bob Saccamano, and I realize right then and there that I need to return this pair of pants. So, I'm off to the store...

So I'm waiting for the subway, It's not coming, so I decided to hoof it through the tunnel. Well, I don't know if I lost track of time - or what, but the next thing I knew I slipped - and fell in the mud, ruining the very pants I was about to return.

in my defense, the pole was really short .....enough that you couldn't see it out of the back window (although you could see it with the camera)

I wasn't talking about that song either. You see, this one time, working at the spoon factory, I needed a big old knife to cut my hoagie in half. Unfortunately, I couldn't leave my post to hunt one down.
