Just heard a rumor that Rockets will trade SF + CM + Cato to Memphis for M. Miller + J. Williaws + Swift. Can somebody tell me if this trade is possible, salary-wise?
No available source to prove it, just some posters in a basketball forum......that's why I call it a "rumor" Both M. Miller and Swift's contracts will end this season. Memphis needs to do something whether to sign them or trade them. But I doubt the salary won't work out with Houston.
You would think it would be possible if he heard it. I know one thing, if they make this trade they will be missing a member of there 12th man.
Should have said "from another basketball forum" instead of just "rumor". Makes a big difference in credibility.
So we're trading Steve to the team he refused to play in the first place? Man, talk about kicking a dog while it's down.
IIRC, RealGM does not factor in the Rockets trade exception. I quickly eye-balled the contracts and Cato makes too much for it to work. Francis + Mobley + TE or Cato + one of Francis or Mobley + TE works...but not all three.
I don't like the initial idea of trading Steve.. but to do that ^, would actually send shockwaves throughout the league. Being that this league has other teams losing the coach at the players' wish (Nets). I just hope Steve realizes that the suspension occurred because Rudy "Hang out and knock a few back" T. is not the coach anymore... Sheriff VG's in town now. Hopefully this never happens again. Or Steve will be in a different city.
Trading with a team that you are tied with in the same division, doesn't sound very smart, especially if that other GM is Jerry "the logo" West. That in itself makes this rumor pretty weak. If this were true, imagine Francis, Mobley, Posey, Gasol, Cato.
If it does, it does not do it in all instances. This works mathematically within the CBA: Francis @ ~5m BYC + Kelvin Cato @ $7.3m + $1m of TE for T-Mac @ $13.3m. It does not work in RealGM. Trade ID: 1466830 Some of ya'all are just going to have to learn the math and not rely so heavily on RealGM.
