With the season coming to a close, it seems like our guys may finally gelling. With three potential first round picks and a free agent, could we be back in the midst of the Playoffs? I think we possibly could if we put out as much effort as we have lately. ------------------ The clock is winding down, and Scottie has the ball, Cato is sprinting towards him, Pippen shoots and here comes Cato. Man did you see that block?!!! Ouch it hit Scottie right between the legs. ITS FINAL!! THE ROCKETS ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF Y2K!!!
If they make a run at a center, maybe, but I'm not sure that market's too good right now. If not that, then a PF. Something to fill in the hole, because Cato doesn't seem to feel like playing more than 20 minutes... The backcourt's good for years to come - provided the Rox organization can keep everyone. I wouldn't change anything there right now. Two key players we need to look at right now are Walt and Bryce: one of them will almost certainly be traded in the offseason, and we need to figure out which one is more expendable. Given Walt's play lately, the choice is easy; Walt's more attractive right now. However, Drew is more attractive to PG-less teams or those who lack a backup, and may be easier to get rid of. Not to be callous, but we don't really need him, as 1) he's competing with Steve (and will lose) for minutes, and 2) Moochie fills in nicely in his place. And one less contract never hurts... Sorry, guess this was a little long... Short answer to the question: Depending on offseason acquisitions, playoffs in 1-2 years. It won't be longer than 2 years. ------------------
Playoffs.....next year. Contention in the West.....2-3 yrs. This timetable is subject to change depending on our personnel moves. ------------------
No way we make playoffs next year without a veteran Free agent. Learning to win in the NBA is a long process. DaDakota ------------------
