Is it possible that, by the trading deadline, that Yao will be the only player on our roster who was on last year's team? I can see both Weatherspoon and Taylor leaving. I'm not sure about Padgett. But it's kinda funny how we made the playoffs for the first time in a long time, had a nice, developing team, and then we totally change it. For the better IMO though.
Id be suprised to see both gone. In fact, I'd be suprised to see even one gone. If they were, I would suspect one of our assets (rotation guy/draft picks) would be gone with them. Mo might be the most untradeable person in the NBA.
A New Jersey paper had an article about them trying to get a power forward - now, with their big TE. (They don't have any trade bait - just the big TE, and picks). They listed guys they want, but for each one said they probably can't get them: Zach Randolph Samuel Dalembert Tyson Chandler Nene Stromile Swift Chris Wilcox Kurt Thomas SAR Sound familiar? If that's true - power forwards are pretty expensive right now. Some of those guys need to move by the deadline, and you'd think NJ's big (9 mil?) TE and some picks could at least work in a three-way. The NJ writer said they were all going to get better offers, though - I guess that means guys like Baron Davis or something. There's a chance a team like NJ or LA that are desperate for PF help might take Taylor, if everybody else good gets dealt first and we combine him in a three way with someone else's talent. That's going to cost us : A : we lose our pick B : we take someone else's trash C : we probably lose our TE D : we obviously won't get a PF back. That'll have to wait till next year. Our # 1 target would probably still be Seattle with some deal for Antonio Daniels, but Mike James or someone like that could be an option, too. If anything happens it won't be a direct deal.
i don't think we will be able to get a PF this season. first we must make room at the 4 spot. we may be able to move mo, but it will be for a player at another position. with this current roster it looks like it might be a 3. yao-deke-spoon JH-mo-pad tmac-bowen wes-bArry-gaines sura-ab-ward the guards and centers seem set. the PF's will be bad 'till next year. the two weakest players on the second team are bowen and ab. but JVg still sees ward as the back-up point so i doubt they look to bring in a true PG with him and ab on the bench. i know gundy loves bowen too, but he realized that when you have two guys that will get doubled every time they get the ball you need shooters and bowen is a liability. i would like to see mo or JH traded, maybe even with our pick, for a good 3. mo for crochere? juwon for devan george?
Rivaldo2181 Why is Zach Randolph on the trading block? He is a beast. Did I miss something? He has been too selfish this year costing the Blazers many victories. Besides, they have SAR and Zach is probably better trade bait.
i think we should pick up james thomas (someone mentioned this in a different thread). i watched him at UT and he can really hustle...i just have feeling he is going to be the next ben wallace. he just needs time to develop.
Doesn't that guy have a really bad back? I remember a roommate or friend of his talking about that when he was up for the draft. Something about JT spending most of his nights sleeping on the floor. Remember, he didn't even start for Texas his senior year. There's probably a reason he's not in the NBA right now.
According to the all-knowing Chad Ford, the Magic are looking for some low-post scoring and are using Cuttino Mobley as trade bait. Maybe they'd be interested in MoT and we could somehow get Battie out of the whole thing? Someone needs to tell Mo to push Amare or something on Wednesday. That tough attitude should get Weisbrod all giddy.
This is a MoT slighting. What happened to the primo 6th Man, the guy who, by several accounts, was finally fully back from his achilles and working his arse off last summer? I am slighting Mo, 'cause I'm not sighting his game. I do believe that Mo may be, along with Clutch's Knicks, amongst the most very unmovable guys in the Association. Unless...Rudy wants him in a deal for George + (whoopy, no gain there).
I have no idea why the Magic would do this, especially adding Battie, who is also on the last year of his contract, I believe. Maybe replace Pat Garrity for Battie since Pat still has three years left and may be a contract they are interested in removing. Still, I don't see how a Mobley/Taylor exchange, essentially, is good for them. I'm all for it. Would it be one of the first times that has ever happened - a player being traded away in the offseason and traded back during the season.
It was actually November 23rd against the Kings (I know, I'm as shocked as you are - I thought finding the answer to this one would take some serious sleuthing!) Want an even bigger shocker? Get ready for this one... Mo's career high for rebounds in a game is TWENTY (16 defensive, 4 offensive)! Happened back in '99 when he was on the Clips... and his career high for offensive rebounds in a game is 9, happened two weeks later that same season. Can't imagine our Mo hitting either of those numbers in a game for this team.... hell, can't even picture him doing it back then. Who knows, maybe he felt like he had to rebound every now and again when he was still on that rookie contract. 6 yrs. and $48 million later...
