I'm going to Ireland at the end of the month for about 10 days. Any been there before? suggestions on what to do?
Im going at the end of next month. send me your email and i can give you our whole plan. Its well thought out and been planned for many months. You should be able to get some ideas from it.
Well, aren't you crackers just cute as the dickens? Stan: You're Chef's parents? Chef's mom: Yes, all his life. Kyle: We have to talk to him! Chef's dad: Well, he should be out now directly. Chef's mom: Oh, he's so excited about the wedding now. Chef's dad: Say, would you crackers like to hear about the time we saw the Loch Ness monster? Stan: No, that's okay. Chef's dad: Ooh, it must've been about seven, eight years ago. Me and the little lady was out on this boat, you see, all alone at night, when all of a sudden this huge creature, this giant crustacean from the paleolithic era, comes out of the water. Chef's mom: We was so scared, Lord have mercy, I jumped up in the boat and I said "Thomas, what on earth is that creature?!" Thomas: It stood above us looking down with these big red eyes,- Chef's mom: Oh, it was so scary! Thomas: -and I yelled. I said, "What do you want from us, monster?!" And the monster bent down and said, "…Uh I need about tree-fitty." [a long silence follows] Kyle: What's tree-fitty? Thomas: Three dollars and fifty cents. Chef's mom: Tree-fitty. Stan: He wanted money? Thomas: That's right. I said "I ain't giving you no tree-fitty you ******* Loch Ness monster! Get your own ******* money!" Chef's mom: I gave him a dollar. Thomas: She gave him a dollar. Chef's mom: I thought he'd go away if I gave him a dollar. Thomas: Well of course he's not gonna go away, Nellie! You gave him a dollar, he's gonna assume you got more!
My wife and I are planning to visit Ireland to celebrate our 10th anniversary... mind sharing with me as well? I sent you an email. I really can't wait to make this trip... it looks like a beautiful place. We probably won't want to spend much time in the cities, but instead wander around the countryside.
Well if you make it to the west coast of Ireland in county Claire. Be sure to check out the Cliffs of Moher
I went back around '98. I stayed in dublin a few days then drove across to Galway, then started south and worked my way around the coast to Cork. This was spread out over about 6-7 days. I've heard the Aran islands are worth a trip.
If you are in the Southeast, check out the city of Kilkenny. Parts of it are still very medieval. In fact, it has been called Ireland's most Medieval city. It is also very colorful and has great local history (lots of places where people were poisoned). Dublin is cool, although it has been some time since I was there.
I'm definitely going there. The Butler Castle is there and if your last name is Butler, you get a free beer
Been to Dublin, walked from Dublin all the way to Glendalough via the Wicklow Way, and then took a bus to the city of Bray on the coast before heading to Germany. Glendalough is without a doubt one of the most impressive valley's I have ever seen - both the landscape and the ridiculous history are just astonishing. As for Dublin, the city was a blast. Highly recommend enjoying some of the folk music played all over the palce while sampling an egregarious amount of guinness and whisky. Take a tour of the Guinness brewery - neat place and the view from the bar at the top is impressive. The cliff walk from Bray is great, not as impressive as Moher, but still pretty cool. I still have the itinerary and info, if that interests anyone let me know.
Have a great time! I've never been but love the music and culture and would love to go. Now that there's peace in the North I would really like to go see Londonderry, Belfast and Ulster.
Never been, but I heard from many reliable sources that the Guiness Brewery is a must-see. Same sources say that Guiness tastes far better there at the brewery than it does here. Don't know why.
