I want to transfer my music library from my old laptop to my new laptop (both pc's). I have an old Ipod Nano that is almost full (approx. 450 songs), and the music library on my old laptop has probably 3000 songs on it, the vast majority of which were ripped from my cd collection. I have a few songs I purchased from Itunes on my old laptop, but not many. I have spent a lot of time rating my songs, and would like to transfer ratings and songlists to my new laptop too.

I have googled this question and there are many different and confusing answers. I am non-technical, so please keep it simple. TIA.

have you tried consolidating your library and sending that over to your new itunes/computer?

im not sure if that keeps the ratings intact but it sends everything over because i did that when i transfered everything from my computer to my laptop

You can simply run the iTunes backup process to back up your collection to DVD (assuming you have a DVD burner). You can then take that DVD to your new computer, pop it in, and bring up iTunes. It knows what to do from there.
