I've absolutely had it with Time Warner. They are too pricey, and have nickel and dimed me to death. What are other high speed options? Thanks in advance.
If price is all you're worried about, DSL is usually around $15-20/month. p*rn will download ALOT slower however.
Time/warner is comcast. Are these really the only two options? This crap and AT&T? Surely there are other ways to get access, aren't there? If not, there needs to be.
i've had pretty good service from att DSL. before my dsl i always had cable and was worried about how much slower it would be, but everyday use its just fine. Downloading a file takes a little longer, but for most videos, smaller files, etc it is good..
I just switched to TW/Comcast business internet and while it is more expensive, I get 8 MB down and 1 MB up plus a static IP address. Cost $100 a month. If you ever have any problems, they have to be out to your house within 24 hours and they give you a tech support line that, get this, a person answers the phone!! I've only had it a week but it is lightning fast. I'm super glad I did it.
the problem with DSL (besides the fact that it sucks compared to cable) is that you need a phone line. if you already have one, it's fine. if you don't, the difference you would pay is practically neglible considering the difference in speed.
That's my reasoning exactly. I don't have a land-line. Are there a lot of wifi providers, or is that also with T/W?
Try to setup wireless network on your computer and leech from other people in your area who have unsecured wireless connections for free!
How much were you paying Time Warner? The service only costs $42.95 a month so how are you saving $40 a month?
sorry...i had the 3 in 1 package with time warner....i changed it to the 3 in 1 package with AT&T/Dish Network. the roughly $40 difference was for the entire media package on a monthly basis.
Time Warner rocks. My RR wasn't working, so I called TW up. They sent a guy out on a Sunday, he came on time, hooked up a brand new cable modem for me, plus they gave me a credit for the days my internet was out. Also, if you think you're going to escape the "nickle and dime" charges if you go to DSL, then you're nucking futs. Just get a couple fewer lap dances each month...
It's all Mayor White's fault. Keep raging against the delusional machine, Fatty. I have had RR for 6 years, no problems. I love it. They actually quit charging me for it for the last year and a half and I got it for free. They just caught it though. But now I'm on the first 6 months for $30 deal. (or something like that). I would never switch.
Roadrunner is waaaaaay better than DSL and it's not even close. Once I switched from DSL to RR my hatred of SBC grew. It's a totally inferior product and barely qualifies as broadband IMO. Fats, stick with RR. From your standpoint, consider it the best choice from bad options. Supposedly it's going to be a long while before FIOS steps into Houston proper, even though they are fiddling around in the area right now. I suggest you sit tight for 3-4 more years until FIOS becomes an option or maybe else becomes viable. Let me emphasize you will quickly regret switching to DSL from RR.
