Hi, I'm using Firefox and I wonder if it's "safe" to download Java VM. I think I read somewhere that Active X is the major hole of IE being attacked. Then when I try to download Java VM, Spybot suggests there's some kind of change in Active X. My another question is that do u guys think it's time to download SP2? Is it well-tested and stable enough? Thanks in advance.
Firefox, by a mile. It turned the health of my computer around and I have this board (and Vengeance in particular to thank). And, even more than that, it brings me stock quotes. And p*rn!
patlabor1 -- I hate to say it, but this is one area where Opera really trounces everyone. Zoom in Opera is fantastic. It's very mediocre in Firefox, IMO. JayZ -- tabs over new windows because switching tabs goes faster than switching windows. dragon -- Java VM is totally safe. Spybot is telling you that Java is installing itself as a browser addition. Allow it. I'm sticking away from SP2 at work, but at home I've had some up and some down with it. At work, SP2 allegedly breaks the Novell Zenworks client, so I'm very wary of it, but in a few months I might roll it out . . . KellyDwyer -- Glad to see you like Firefox. George: Well, I got just the thing to cheer you up. A computer! Huh? You can check p*rn, and stock quotes. Jerry: p*rn quotes... I'm so lucky to have a friend like you, George. Ever tell you how much I love you? George: What? Jerry: I love you, George. Come here. George: I-I'm already here. I'm here. I'm here. Uh, you know what? If you want a computer, call me. I-I gotta go. Jerry: Go wherever you want. I'm still gonna love you. . .
Recently switched to Firefox, and I admit it's pretty sweet. Does any one know if I can move my list of bookmarks to the side of my screen like in IE?
one more question you know how alt + tab switches windows, how to you swithc tabs, i know on a mac its alt + `
Been using Firefox/Firebird for over a year now and it's great. Download manager is a little slow though (getting started not the download speeds of course).
Technically, yes. But Netscape is more like the full Mozilla suite, although usually a few steps behind. Netscape, however, has nothing like Firefox.
Right click in the address window. Select customize. Drag the bookmark icon to wherever you want -- like next to your "home" button. When you click on the icon, your bookmarks will come up on the side.
For one thing you can set up Firefox to open tabs in the background, that way it doesn't automatically send you to the page you just opened. For example, I frequently scan a page (like Slashdot) and open several links from it. While I continue to scan the page, the links I've opened are loading in the backgroud without bothering me until I'm ready to read them. Also you can open an entire "Bookmarks" folder in tabs with one click. In Explorer you have to open a window, select a site from your favorites, and repeat until you get all of them you want open. Firefox has changed the way I bookmark things. I lump things to gether that I want to open together (like CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News, or Clutch City, NBA.com, and ESPN). Saves me a lot of time.
another good thing about opera, and you might try this on firefox..don't know if this will work for it though. Hold down your mouse button then move your scroll wheel. In opera I can swith to different tabs without moving anything...that's probably my favorite feature of opera.
I just started using Firefox and this is my favorite feature. I always open up cf.net threads into a bunch of windows, and it's a hassle to click back onto the first page to open the next thread. But now, I just hold down ctrl to open up to a new tab, and since the current page stays on top, it saves me a lot of time when I want to open up a number of threads.
thanks for the heads up...i always hate having a bunch of windows open like that...especially when you are doing a fantasy draft....didn't know about that feature and now i wish i did.
cant get this to work in firefox, and cant get used to the control tab instead of the alt tab... araghghgh
if you do that with firefox you can scroll through your past webpage visits but if you use your scroller on the tabs you can scroll through them
