I've never used Opera, but I've been using Firefox for quite a while (I think early this year),and I don't seem to recall ANY pop ups. So it is either better, or Opera blocks .0000000000001% more ads, according to my experiences. From here to shows on TV like The Screen Savers, Firefox get's a lot of love, and, IMO, it deserves it.

    I love those extensions/plug-ins. :)

I use Opera sometimes, more to try it and see how it compares. It's decent, and it has a few cool features (which have been made into extensions for Firefox). Opera's pop-up blocking is not quite as good as Firefox, which actually surprises me, but every once in a while, I've gotten popups. Opera is more customizable though. But that customizability comes at the price of being somewhat cluttered.

While Opera is a step-up from IE, it's not nearly what Firefox is.

Just download it and give it a try. You'll be glad you did. Oh, and be sure to check out the tabbed-browsing. Greatest implementation of it in any browser is in Firefox . . .

I never really got into tabbed browsing at first, but over the past months or so, I've been going crazy over it. I normally have 3 or 4 tabs open, 2 or so of which are automatically reloading every so often. All I have to do is switch from tab to tab to see what's up. I occasionally go a little overboard and end up with too many tabs so that I can't even read them anymore. I think their is an extension that helps this, but I think I should just learn to close some tabs. :)

Now that school has started, I have to get back to using IE. I hate it already. Sites that I'm used to going to where I never got pop-ups now have pop-ups. I keep right-clicking on links, looking for the "open link in new tab" option, and I also keep wanting to right-click on images, trying to make them larger/smaller only to remember that I'm using IE and not Firefox with the ext that does this. If I ever get a chance to talk with out administrator, I need to ask him if I can use Firefox. I stopped using IE for a reason.

Isn't Mozilla an offshoot of Netscape?

    Post Deleted.

I had a semi-rant about how I started using firefox today and it wasn't working. But it turns out that it is my computer and not the browser. :(

I'm trying to puzzle it out now, but I'll come to you guys if I get too stumped.

How about Avant Browser? Loooks like IE, but much faster in installing and loading. Can surf with multiple tab-page also. Occasional crash, but overall satisfied.

Avant and Slimbrowser are add-ons to IE, so you still have the security flaws in IE there, plus Firefox has some better features that those can't replicate (transparent .pngs, faster rendering).

Netscape used to be Mozilla. Then they released the source code, and the Mozilla project began, with the intention of creating a brand new web browser. This was back in the late 90s. And so, the full Mozilla suite came out of it. The more recent Netscapes (6-7) were the Mozilla suites, versions 0.6 through 1.6 (NS 6 was 0.6, then NS 7 was 0.9 or so, and so on), with the Netscape logo on them and a few different add-ons.

But Mozilla was slow and bloated. So a group got together with the intention of taking the good part of Mozilla (the browser engine), and making it the fastest, leanest, best browser available. And they did . . .

    The End

Firefox. Noone really mentions it, but it makes p*rn browsing a highly enjoyable (moreso) experience. Plus it's a damn fine piece of software. :)

Opera's pop-up blocker has NEVER allowed pop-up on my system. Not once. I'm wondering if peole configured it right...

I'll never use anything other than opera.

Firefox is the answer. Since I stopped using IE, I hardly ever get spyware anymore.

That's true if you still go to those sleazy sites with zillions of popups. I never deal with those anymore. I don't pay either.
