I know some people don't believe this plus/minus stats. But it is interesting to compare this year and last year of the same players, namely Yao and Francis. 2003-2004 Yao: on court(+3.7), off court(-2.7), net(+6.4) Francis: on court(+2.9), off court(-3.4), net(+6.4) 2004-2005 Yao: on court(-0.4), off court(+0.4), net(-0.8) Francis: on court(+0.1), off court(+1.1), net(-0.9) It seems to Yao and Francis should stay with each other. (All stats are from 82games)
I'm alm ost certain 1.1 minus 0.1 by Steve Francis is a whole 1, not 0.9. I could be wrong but I just wanted to point that out.
So if SF is not the reason the Magic are better than their opponents, and Mobley is hurt, could it be that the +/- stats for Grant Hill NBA all-star, Turkoglu, and their newly drafted PF who is doing some great work, stick out as big positives? So surround either SF or Yao with three other really really good/great players and the results will be very good? Hmmmmm.... One down, two to go for Yao.
take francis off the court and that is two more losses for the magic. the stats are misleading because francis has played so bad in the magic losses it drags the overall number dowm.
