I hope this is in the right forum. Anyways Langhi is a scorer and can play both half court and open court style of play. he is very athletic which will suprise many people. He knows he is not strong enough to play alot of power forward in the NBA. The reason I brimg this up is I heard an interview of him this morning. There were two things that caught my attention. First off they ask if he had anybody keeping up with the threes. He said so far he has not and included college. the other thing that caught my attention is they asked who he guarded in college. The one of note was Mike Miller. Now get this, he averaged 29.5 on Miller and hel Miller to somewhere less than 15 ppg. He is quick enough to guard the NBA 3's and he pretty much schooled the number 5 pick a few times. Anybody think that being a 7 foot small forward a good nickname for him would be the Walking Mismatch.

Holding Miller under 15 points is not that impressive considering that in Florida's 10-man rotation, nobody actually averaged more than 15 ppg. Of course, I am pretty excited that he could score 29.5 ppg against Florida's pressing defense. That definitely would take a lot of athleticism and talent.

Admittedly, I haven't watched Langhi play much (has anybody?), but from looking at his college stats, he seems like he could light it up regularly. Twenty and 30 pt games were common for him in his senior year.

But how about a reality check before we get too excited? Weren't Dave Jamerson and Steve Harris really good NCAA scorers? [IMG]

He was voted the SEC Player of the Year by conference coaches and AP. This was over several players that people on this forum seem to go ga-ga over. I think the people that gave him this honor know more about basketball than the average poster here does. Let's see what he can do next year and then you can rag on him.

THis thread has mainly concentrated on how excited people are over Langhi and the possibility of him being a real steal...nobody's raging on him.

You have been reading different posts than I have. IMHO the negative posts on him out number the positives significantly.

I have seen Langhi play alot and he is fantastic. I kept on thinking how this guy was not going to be picked in the mid-first round. All the Gurus had him mid-second round. For a guy that dominated arguably the best league in the NCAA, it didn't make sense.

Its obvious that the guy can shoot, but he could slash a bit in college too. If I have any question about his NBA game, its whether he is still going to be able to slash, or is he going to become one-dimensional. Defense might be a problem too. I still think the Rockets are lucky to have him.

For those left wondering what SEC Conference Player of the Year says about Langhi, Stromile Swift was also in the SEC. Of course I'm not saying Langhi will be outplaying Swift in next couple of years, but it still lets you know the guy has some type of skills.

Lets be honest for a second. If Langhi were a 7 foot, three point shooting, scoring machine, AFRICAN-AMERICAN sf we'd be going gaga over him. [IMG] Since he's WHITE he's a no defense playing wimp. [IMG] Most of us haven't seen him play at all, and those that have for the most part like his game. Interesting hmmmmmm? [IMG]

The only reason Langhi wasn't a higher draft pick was because of his size. Sure he's 6'11 and that's great! But he clocked in at 210lbs, and he's not overly muscular. There's absolutely no doubt that he can score in a variety of ways and he can create the room to get his shot up or get to the hoop. He's not slow.... he just needs to add some strength.

The GOOD news is that he's been pumping iron ever since he got drafted because he KNOWS that he's too weak to play NBA basketball and he's trying to fix that up. Plus the fact that he was disappointed when Dallas chose him because Houston was the team he liked.... sounds good to me....

I'm not saying he'll be an all-star, and maybe he won't ever be a starter, but I gotta say that he'll be an improvement over Matt Bullard.

I sure hope those guys give us something positive to talk about here pretty soon. Of course, I don't really know what the RMR will be able to really tell us about these guys. I didn't get to see any games last year, but after all the reports I remember being sort of excited about the prospects of one Devin Gray. But at least I'll get to see a couple of games this year on ESPN.

All I care about with the small forward position is defense against the Lamar Odom's, KG's, Abdur-Rahim's and Rashard Lewis's. We will have offense at the 3 with the shooting of Williams, Bullard and Langhi. Someone needs to step up defensively and I don't see any of them stepping up much. Hope Langhi can play defense. I know he can shoot but can he stop the opponent from having a 30 point game? I hope someone can other than Shandon Anderson.
